Know More about this tour

After we pick you up, you will learn about the City of Seven Hills, enjoy the amazing views and vibes that Lisbon has to offer, and we will stop at the best viewpoints of the city – we call them miradouros, which means ‘golden views’ – you will understand why! (like the miradouro da Nossa Senhora do Monte). We will also tour the most typical neighborhoods in Lisbon like Baixa, Chiado, Alfama, Graça, Mouraria or Principe Real.

After all the up and downs of the old town, we will cross the bridge that was named after the revolution day (25th of April Bridge) that finished the Salazar dictatorship in 1974. This bridge is often compared to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, USA (it's our Golden Gate). We will then go to the south side of the river for one special reason: to enjoy the best view of Lisbon at the Christ the King Statue, which was erected in 1959 to thank God for sparing Portugal from the horrors of World War II (here there is an optional entrance for an additional fee). You'll be amazed with this astonishing view.

Now it is time to go back to XVI century to discover together all of the adventures of the brave Portuguese navigators. You’ll have the opportunity to appreciate different monuments, but you can’t miss out on the magnificent monastery classified by UNESCO that was built to celebrate discovery of a sea route to India in 1498 by Vasco da Gama (Monastery of Jeronimos - we'll visit the church and skip the cloister). We will also enjoy the remarkable Torre de Belem (outside only) or the limestone giant Padrao dos Descobrimentos (Discoveries Monument; outside only); and of course, the most well keep secret of the Portuguese pastry, the Pasteis de Belem. There is a local ritual to eating these delicacies that we will share with you.

  • Tania met us at 10:00 at the meeting point in downtown Lisbon. She confirmed our names and showed our party of two, and our two other riders to the Lisbon Riders van. One other booked rider could not be located so we waited a few minutes while Tania tried to call his telephone number, but with no luck. After trying all options and making several searches around the meeting point plaza we departed on the tour. Tania was very knowledgeable of Lisbon history, and explained the effects of the earthquakes, the reconstruction, the monarchy, the dictatorships, and finally the Red Carnation revolution. While waiting for our missing companion, our riders talked about their desired shopping while in Lisbon, and Tania explained the best places to shop for the desired items. The tour covered the main areas of interest in Lisbon, and Tania displayed expert driving skills navigating our van through traffic and very tight streets of the various districts and sites of Lisbon. We loved the best desert in the world at it's original bakery and the near-by monastery and cathedral. We spent some time at the west Lisbon tower, the terrace and monument to Discovery, went across the bridge to lunch and the Christ monument, and then toured important places and lookouts in the old city. The day wrapped up with Tania taking us to our hotel that was on her way home. Tania was pleasant, informative, extremely knowledgeable, and very professional. We were extremely lucky to have Tania as our guide and recommend requesting her as you guide for this or the Sintra tour with Lisbon drivers.

  • Wonderful day tour! Nuno was a good driver, informative and friendly! If you want a good overview of Lisbon, this is it!

  • I have to say our very gregarious tour guide, Tania, was a delight. She was more than enthusiastic about conveying her love of Lisbon and Portugal. Tania tried to educate us about Portugese history and traditions and many of her stories had a humorous lesson. I'm sure there was more to see in Lisbon but the tour would have to be 10 hours. Tania was great about taking the time for us old farts and answering any questions. I was impressed with Lisbon and would enjoy returning.

  • Was fun and enjoyable. Note that there are lots of hills in Lisbon and, unless you go on a strictly bus tour, you must be prepared for serious walking.

  • This trip was a fabulous first day overview of the city. We couldnt have asked for more. We had a small group5 and a knowledgeable guide who went out of her way to provide history and local insights.

  • The biggest disappointment was that we went on a Monday - Monastery and Church and everything in Belem, Lisbon, was closed. They should not sell this tour on a Monday. We also went to the other side of the Tagus River to have lunch beside the water - actually the Ferry Building was in front so couldn't see the view. The restaurant we went to on the river front' was the worst meal we have had in a long time - very salty Codfish and tough cuttlefish! Have had both in another town and it was beautiful! To get to the riverside we went through a bad area with lots of graffiti and old untidy apartment buildings! We went through a much better area today with a different guide with better restaurants. Could not recommend this tour unless there was substantial improvement.

  • Nuno was an excellent tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable and kind. A great way to see important places in Lisboa's history.
I highly recommend this specific tour company. Remember to wear walking shoes.

  • Nuno was an excellent guide and host for our day. I appreciate his care and great outlook and attitude. A wonderful representative for his country. I highly recommend this specific tour company for Lisbon. Be sure to wear walking shoes.

  • This was an interesting and informative tour. Small group was a great way to do touring. Driver and guide was very accomodating.

  • Fantastic. Our guide Nuno please forgive if misspelled, shared his passion for Lisbon, and created a wonderful introduction to this great city. We had a perfect experience.
