We had a terrific walking tour with Wesley. There were 7 of us including 4 kids ages 10 to 14, and they particularly liked him. He had to improvise when Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey were unexpectedly blocked off, and we still had a really fun time.
Our guide was nice but not overwhelmingly knowledgeable of facts. Felt he was not a trained guide. Many questions couldn’t be answered and we saw nice things.
Everything started by James asking us about a little about us, how many times we have been in London, what did we were looking for, he wanted to make sure before the Tour that it included everything we were looking to do, it is worth saying that this was our first time ever in London and this was our second day in the city, so we ask him to show us the best highlight places and brief explanation about them, also advise from him on places he thinks we should visit in a deeper mode later during our stay in London and finally places he thought we was going to be amazed.
We never had a tour like this one before, and it is extremely recommendable, James our guide I believe is the person you want to have as a friend in England, everybody knows him an he knows everyone, a very resourceful person, very intelligent, great humor, very educated and kind, with his great personality and in a calm way but in a very intense day we walked over 15 kms, James took my wife and myself to an incredible tour, we visit all the highlight places, the places we wouldn't imagined in London, we even got the chance to see the change of guards in a privileged zone and he explained every detail of the ceremony.
On just a simple example of the resourceful he is, when my wife told him that she loved the guard horses, he immediately took action and surprised us with a incredible visit to a place you can only visit thanks to his contacts in the city.
I do not usually write recommendations about the tours we take, but i believe this this tour was more that what we expected to be and it would only be fair to write it, keep in mind that James never actually ask us to write a recommendation.
My private guide was James and he was so adept in London's history. Aside from the fun stuff of seeing London's iconic landmarks,
the history part of London's king and queens and many others were informative. James asked me if I wanted to visit a pub and restaurant,
and we both went to a local pub, me acting ling a local, and a steak restaurant that fulfilled my gastronomic desires. I would recommend
this private full day London trip. This would give you the knowledge like a local and go on your own on the succeeding days. The best part
was viewing the changing of the guards.
The private tour was worth the extra money spent. My wife and I were given royal treatment by James. He took really good care of us and on our day it rained and he came with umbrellas. Who does that? Wow? I also asked him to help with Dr. WHO and Pokemon stuff and he took us to the right place. We paid a premium for this tour and it was well worth it. On top of that James is well connected. He spoke with many government officials during our tour and we got very special treatment b/c of his contacts. When we return we will pay premium for Windsor Castle tour. James is a superstar!
Very pleasant experience learned a lot and it was a wonderful time.
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour with James! We have done many walking tours in several cities through Viator, and this was one of the very best. James a historian related many historical events and stories that we being Americans did not know of. We did this tour shortly after our arrival in London, which worked perfectly because we were able to discern which places we wanted to return to to learn more on our own. Two highlights in particular were our visits to the establishments James J. Fox and James Locke and Co., both places with rich histories that we would not have thought to visit on our own.
One thing to note about this tour: you will not visit the interiors of most places on the tour, but you will definitely know which places you will want to go back and see on your own.
Wesley was very informative and fun to hang with! He did an awesome job and you can tell he was really passionate about history and people!! Highly recommended :
James was amazing. Not the tour we thought we ordered, but it was even better. Best guide ever. We learned so much. Full day turned into 9 hours and 14 miles of walking. Sore feet, but worth every step.
James was our guide. Wow was he prepared! He was fully committed to making the experience personal. He also took excellent care of our group with a great spot for lunch and preventing rude tourists from impacting our tour. The experience with James was underpriced, seriously. Ask for him!
