I find this a tricky review to write as I am not a big Lord of the Rings fan and I feel ultimately this tour was not geared towards my likes. After having visited Hobbiton, my expectations for the Journey to Edoras were high, and I ended up being disappointed. This is a tour that takes you to a hill in the mountains, which was the site of filming for the scenes taking place in Edoras. There is nothing left from the movie, it is just a hill, and part of the experience is to climb the hill. This climb done on foot was pretty steep, with no path, so it was rough going. I didn't go the entire way and missed out on playing with swords and the like at the top of the hill. When the hikers returned around 3pm, we were given lunch, which consisted of a sandwich and a piece of carrot cake. During the time on the shuttle to get there, interviews and clips from the actors and other people involved in the making of the movie were played in an effort to make it more of a Lord of the Rings experience.

Great guide, amazing scenery, super fun to play with the swords, and topped it off with a lunch that had no right being at good as it was!!

We had a fantastic day, Maria was funny and full of stories about the production of the Lord of the Rings, plus great history about the areas we passed through. The hike up Mt Sunday was worth the effort, and our lunch overlooking the valley was magical.

This was an awesome tour. First a foremost, the tour operator picks you up at your hotel and drives you to the site - roughly 2 1/2-3 hours outside of Christchurch. The stops break up the trip and the information you learn about the making of the LOTR films is really interesting. Mt Sunday aka Edoras is REALLY amazing. Our host Natasha was amazing. Couple tips - bring comfortable hiking shoes and a good windbreaker for comfort. Lunch is provided.

Cheryl made our trip unique and personal. We loved everything! Views were amazing and worth the trek. Cheryl was knowledgeable and fun. A highlight of our trip.

We had a very informative and entertaining guide, Natasha, who shared with us interesting information about the behind the scenes stories about the lord of the ring. The journey to Edoras was fantastic and eventful. Beautiful weather on the day we were there. Blue, cloudless sky and calm weather.

Natasha was very entertaining helpful and a wealth of information. Did everything to nake our trip a very good experience

If we drove to the site on our own it would not have been as enjoyable and we would not realized what we were looking at. Very glad we took the tour. It was a really long day, 9 1/2 hours but worth it. The lunch was awesome including the gluten free option. To get to the site up Mt Sunday was a fairly steep trail but doable.

Maria was a wonderful driver and guide. The van was very comfortable, the drive was broken up by a delightful stop for a snack and relief. The lunch provided was magnificent. A great tour..even though I am not a LOTR fan…I loved it!
