Know More about this tour

Meet your guide in the center of Aix-en-Provence and head out by air-conditioned minibus to discover the charming Luberon area. Peppered with tiny cliff-top villages and windswept vineyards, the gorgeous area exemplifies rural France at its finest!

First stop is the picture-perfect village of Isle-sur-Sorque to spend some time at leisure exploring and soaking up its charm. Visit its open-air market and browse its collection of antiques shops that flank its network of canals known as Venice of Comtat Venaissin.

Continue to the nearby hilltop village of Gordes, and during the lavender blooming months (mid June to mid July) stop for photos at Senanque Abbey a pretty 12th century abbey surrounded by lavender fields. Enjoy some free time for lunch in the village and then continue to the colorful village of Roussillon known for its rich ochre pigments that are found in its cay soil. Explore the town at your own pace, and admire its distinctive orange-hued cliffs.

Travel to the neighboring village of Bonnieux and Lourmarin, by passing near the Pont Julien a Roman stone arch bridge that was built from limestone rocks from the nearby Luberon mountains. Follow the scenic river valley of Combe of Lourmarin from Bonnieux.

Last stop of the day is in Lourmarin often considered the quaintest of Luberons villages with its narrow streets lined with Mediterranean architecture. Marvel at the Renaissance architecture of the popular Lourmarin Castle on a short photo stop in the pretty village and hear from your guide how it was the first Renaissance castle to be built in Provence.

You tour finishes in the late afternoon back at the start point in Aix-en-Provence.

The order of the visit might change depending on market day.

From April 1st 2018, a stop at Fontaine de Vaucluse will be included.

  • This tour was amazing!

  • This tour presented a good range of different, and in some cases spectacular, villages and we had a very good guide. We are not big shoppers nor do we have long lunches, so for us there was too much time at L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Gordes. However, if you like markets then you will love L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. We actually thought that it was an extremely beautiful village that was ruined by all the market stalls! And the final stop at Lourmarin again allowed too much time to wander through more markets. However, we were pleased that we did the tour.

  • A very pleasant day sampling the beauty of the countryside and the astounding charm of the villages. Our guide, Remy, was knowldgeable and informative without being overwhelming. A perfect way to cover a lot of ground and still be freah at the end. Also, going in November means that the villages were quiet and there were no crowds even though the weather was perfect for touring.

  • Good day touring

  • A very convenient way to see several picturesque villages in a day. Gorgeous! Tour guide was very friendly and open to suggestions. Would strongly recommend!

  • This was a very interesting tour and a overall positive experience. Truth in advertising. You cover a lot of ground. Each stop was different and charming. It is a long day but worth it. While our guide was fluent in English, he accent was very heavy and at times he was hard to understand. He did not consistently use the microphone, and did not give as much narrative as I have come to expect on Viator tours--just the basics. Other guides give a running narrative in-between sites as well regarding landscape, culture, etc. I did wonder about one less village--overload by end of day. I probably would have skipped the last one and spent more time in Gordes.

  • This tour was great with so much to see. Wonderful tour, highly recommended.

  • I didn't want the hassle of renting a car to visit the villages in Luberon and public transportation was non existent. The best option was a tour albeit expensive. I liked that we had quite a lot of free time to roam around the various villages. It was quite difficult to hear Leo from the back and just as inconvenient to converse as he was driving and mentioned briefly about various villages simultaneously. It was quite different from another trip I'd taken from Dubrovnik to Montenegro where the guide faced us and gave us a lot of insights into the country as well as fascinating personal anecdotes. I would've preferred less villages and more time in each one rather than racing through so many in one day.

  • Really great tour. Great guide, very friendly. The villages are truly beautiful. The view of Gordes especially. You pack a lot in a day but is balanced with free time at villages. A definite must do.

  • Luberon is not to be missed! Instant love at first sight.
