Know More about this tour

Join your guide and group in central Lucerne in the morning and embark on a 2-hour walking tour. Youll get a comprehensive overview of this intriguing German-speaking city perched on the shores of Lake lucerne, and enjoy picturesque views around nearly every turn as you visit several top city attractions.

Walk across the Chapel bridge (Kapellbrcke), a 14th-century wooden bridge spanning the Reuss River. This is the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe and the oldest surviving truss bridge in the world, and stands proud as a symbol of Lucerne. On one side of the bridge is the Water Tower, which once served as a dungeon.

Visit Jesuit Church to witness the first large Baroque church in Switzerland north of the Alps. Learn about its significance and hear of the disputes between the Jesuits and Protestants that have troubled Switzerland for centuries.

Admire the architecture and design of the Culture and Congress Centre (known simply as the KKL), whose concert hall is known for its pristine acoustics. Catch a glimpse of Lucernes crown, the Musegg Wall, the remains of the medieval city ramparts.

Saunter down tucked-away alleys and stroll around public squares teeming with activity, giving you a glimpse into daily local life. All the while, hear stories and facts about the history and culture of Lucerne from your guide.

The walking tour was a very good idea if someone wants to understand the city.
I went on the tour before exploring the city myself so after the tour I knew what to do.
The guide answered all our questions and showed us things we could find by ourselves
    Thanks a lot!

An easy 2 hour walk with a clear English spoken tour guide (Erica) was excellent. She hit all the important places you have read about and a few that you haven't. Great insight on the history and facts of this beautiful city you must visit. Also very easy (and cheap) to get to on Swiss railway, we were just a 1hr trip away from Basel.

The old town area of Lucerne is quite small, so we enjoyed an in-depth look with our guide, Annamarie during our walk. Although we covered a relatively small area, the time was well-spent with strategic stops to learn a lot about Lucerne's past and present. Annamarie was charming and shared personal stories that added much to the tour. She was also extremely well-armed with facts, figures and anecdotes with respect to everything along the way, from the architectural details of the modern convention center/concert hall where we started to the family crests in the surviving paintings on the covered wooden bridge.

Spent an excellent morning on this tour. Our guide was informative and kept us all engaged.

  • 23-Apr-2018

Lucerne is fantastic, our guide was very good, but as in Zurich the tour was in both German and English so we spent one hour of the two hour tour waiting while the guide talked to the other folks.

  • 24-Mar-2018

This walking tour was a good way to see Lucerne and learn a little about the city. The tour guide took the time to answer our questions. The only thing that would have made the tour better is if they had included the Lion Monument.
