Know More about this tour

Join your guide and group in central Lucerne in the morning and embark on a 2-hour walking tour. Youll get a comprehensive overview of this intriguing German-speaking city perched on the shores of Lake Lucerne, and enjoy picturesque views around nearly every turn as you visit several top city attractions.

Walk across the Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrcke), a 14th-century wooden bridge spanning the Reuss River. This is the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe and the oldest surviving truss bridge in the world, and stands proud as a symbol of Lucerne. On one side of the bridge is the Water Tower, which once served as a dungeon.

Visit Jesuit Church to witness the first large Baroque church in Switzerland north of the Alps. Learn about its significance and hear of the disputes between the Jesuits and Protestants that have troubled Switzerland for centuries.

Admire the architecture and design of the Culture and Congress Centre (known simply as the KKL), whose concert hall is known for its pristine acoustics. Catch a glimpse of Lucernes crown, the Musegg Wall, the remains of the medieval city ramparts.

Saunter down tucked-away alleys and stroll around public squares teeming with activity, giving you a glimpse into daily local life. All the while, hear stories and facts about the history and culture of Lucerne from your guide.

This is a very good value and a great way to get an overview of this lovely town.

  • walking tour of a lovely city. guide was good.

  • Our guide was excellent and coped very well with some tricky questions from persistent guests. She was well informed, supplied interesting facts and the walking was at a reasonable pace fo4 all to keep together, unlike some guides. Definitely worth doing. Tourist info office is extremely helpful also.

  • The day we decided to take this tour it was raining very heavily but the tour still went on. We walked to all of the important sites including the chapel bridge, a chapel, KKL building, and saw other various sites the city had to offer. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and provided us great historical information regarding the city. She also gave some food recommendations for a local fondue restaurant and various local shops with authentic gifts from Switzerland. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lucerne who is interested in all the sites the city has to offer.

  • the guide was very knowledgeable, polite. We have a very good time on the tour. Very!!! enjoyable!

  • the tour was conducted by Lucerne tourism. We recommend this tour to anyone willing to visit the pretty Lucerne.

  • In this two-hour walking tour we explored parts of the city that we would have missed if we were walking on our own. The group consisted of 14 people and we met at the Information Office by the central train station. Our guide was wonderful. She was a great story teller and explained the history, culture and the development of the city as well as pointing out migrating birds to us. She also highlighted other places in the city we could visit on our own and gave clear directions of how to get there. Could not believe we had walked for two hours may be because it was a relaxed pace and was a nice quiet Sunday morning.

My husband and I would highly recommend this city tour.

  • This was an excellent Lucerne city walking tour. Well worth the time to get acquainted with the city before you can go explore more on your own. Our guide's name was Freida and she took us around town and into ! some buildings we would not have known were open to the public. It was very interesting and her narrative gave us the confidence to explore further once the tour was over. - Thanks to Freida!

  • Our tour guide, Ann Marie, was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting.
