Know More about this tour

Join your guide and group in central Lucerne in the morning and embark on a 2-hour walking tour. You’ll get a comprehensive overview of this intriguing German-speaking city perched on the shores of Lake Lucerne, and enjoy picturesque views around nearly every turn as you visit several top city attractions.

Walk across the Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), a 14th-century wooden bridge spanning the Reuss River. This is the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe and the oldest surviving truss bridge in the world, and stands proud as a symbol of Lucerne. On one side of the bridge is the Water Tower, which once served as a dungeon.

Visit Jesuit Church to witness the first large Baroque church in Switzerland north of the Alps. Learn about its significance and hear of the disputes between the Jesuits and Protestants that have troubled Switzerland for centuries.

Admire the architecture and design of the Culture and Congress Centre (known simply as the KKL), whose concert hall is known for its pristine acoustics. Catch a glimpse of Lucerne’s crown, the Musegg Wall, the remains of the medieval city ramparts.

Saunter down tucked-away alleys and stroll around public squares teeming with activity, giving you a glimpse into daily local life. All the while, hear stories and facts about the history and culture of Lucerne from your guide.

Your tour ends near the original departure point.

  • the guide was very knowledgeable, polite. We have a very good time on the tour. Very!!! enjoyable!

  • the tour was conducted by Lucerne tourism. We recommend this tour to anyone willing to visit the pretty Lucerne.

  • In this two-hour walking tour we explored parts of the city that we would have missed if we were walking on our own. The group consisted of 14 people and we met at the Information Office by the central train station. Our guide was wonderful. She was a great story teller and explained the history, culture and the development of the city as well as pointing out migrating birds to us. She also highlighted other places in the city we could visit on our own and gave clear directions of how to get there. Could not believe we had walked for two hours may be because it was a relaxed pace and was a nice quiet Sunday morning.

My husband and I would highly recommend this city tour.

  • This was an excellent Lucerne city walking tour. Well worth the time to get acquainted with the city before you can go explore more on your own. Our guide's name was Freida and she took us around town and into ! some buildings we would not have known were open to the public. It was very interesting and her narrative gave us the confidence to explore further once the tour was over. - Thanks to Freida!

  • Our tour guide, Ann Marie, was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting.

  • Outstanding Tour Guide and walking tour! Highly recommend this tour! Lucerne was great!

  • This tour was very interesting and a great look at the city through an excellent English speaking guide. I thought the group size would be smaller than the 18-20 person group we toured with...the description did not indicate the size to be this large and it made it difficult for everyone in our group of 6 to easily hear everything that was being said. We were looking for a smaller - more personal tour.

  • This was a lovely way to get the lay of the land. Sonia was a wonderful tour guide and we learned so many interesting facts. We were kept entertained for the full two hours and got some great pictures.

  • Its ok, but it could have been better. I would suggest one to take the street train tour instead.

  • It was a great way to get to know the city a little more intimately. Our guide was very knowledgeable, engaging and friendly!
