Know More about this tour

The people of Malaga are proud of the fact that Picasso was born here and it was a big day when the King and Queen of Spain inaugurated the Museo Picasso (Picasso Museum) on the 27th October 2003.

On that first day alone almost 2,000 people visited. the museum, which is housed in the Palacio de Buenavista. You will find it right in the heart of the Historic Centre of the city, with the dramatic backdrop of the Alcazaba Fortress and Gibralfaro Castle close by. Literally two minutes walking distance from Malaga cathedral, this magnificent old building has been painstakingly restored to befit the importance of the works of the great artist.

This tour will start in the Plaza Merced in front of the Casa Natal (Birthplace of Picasso), which has been open to the public since 1988. Then we'll move on to The Picasso Museum, and finish at Plaza Merced.

Museum is set in an interesting old building, palace. Well worth visit even if there are not much of best known Picasso's works. It is interesting to see, how he developed his style and different works. There is also a small archeological exhibition in the basement.

Our tour was great! Sylvia had a lot of great history of Malaga and appreciation of the arts to share with us. We traveled to Malaga with our 3 boys, ages 13,12,10. Highly recommend the visit to Picasso’s birthplace and museum. Great history.

If you are interested in Picasso, then be sure to see his one. Most of the items are lesser known, but give a good perspective on the career and the changes that he went through.

This museum contains a import collection of Picasso's works in a very classy building. However, having previously visited the Picasso museum in Barcelona I was a little disappointed. The Barcelona collection as I remember was larger and more informative of the way Picasso constructed his works and so was better presented.

Sylvia made the Picasso experience come alive. Slyvias knowledge of Picassos life and works with the overlay of history was very intriguing. Not only did Sylvia give us a deeper understanding of Picasso, she also gave us a feel for the great history of Malaga.
