Know More about this tour

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! It's time to rip up the Dominican off road and get a bit muddy!

From our ranch in Macao, we go tearing through the remote farmland of northern Punta Cana, passing palm trees and tobacco plantations with the Oriental Mountain Range deep in the background. These narrow, secluded country roads offer a safe haven for deep pools of mud that we'll go barging through again and again. At first, you may try and avoid the mud, but soon you'll give into the filth. This excursion is not for the dainty.

Our first stop is at a quaint country ranch for an introduction on local produce like cocoa, coffee, tobacco and Mamajuana (a Dominican aphrodisiac elixir) and green tea leaves. Back into the rocky off-road, among panoramic views of endless farmland and distant mountains, our excursion leads us to a picturesque cave complete with a deep natural swimming hole. Jump in, cool off and bathe in these refreshing underground waters.

The longest stretch of our drive is also the largest contrast. From the hidden countryside cave, we retrace our muddy path, and then some, to the shores of the photogenic Macao Beach, one of the last resort free coastal stretches of Punta Cana. Here, we'll have time to enjoy this idealistic Caribbean Beach with rows of palm trees and azure waters.

So, rev your engine and get muddy with us on this Macao Buggy Adventure!

  • Our tour guide Fireman was kool. Get ready to get dirty.

  • It was a fun excursion with great activites, BUT... the driver picked us up 20 minutes late we where the first he picked up so he did't wait for others befor us. Then when we arrived we hade too wait around 30-35 minutes for a other bus to get there with moore people. And then after a short information, The people that arrived after us, got to choose a buggy first and they drove off. So moore waiting, and Along the track we hade many short stops beacuse some buggy broke down a few Times. Some like 10 Times under 2h. So if they pump up the tempo and fix better buggys the exursion hade been great.

  • Fun excursion! Be prepared to get dirty, bring a scarf for face. Not a lot of time spent at the beach.

  • Overall the buggy tour was great and our guide was incredible. My only complaint is once the tour was complete Management had failed to arrange for our return transportation to our hotels. A large group sat there waiting for more than one hour before our ride back was finally arranged.

  • The trip itself was great and 5 stars. The reason I would not give it 5 stars is the locals harassing us nearly the entire time. The cave was awesome, as well as the plantation. Macao beach would have been great except for one local gentleman that would not leave us alone. We went on the early time option. When we got to the cave, we were the only ones there. The photographer was great, taking 100 pictures throughout the excursion. The guide was very good, he knew what he was doing and made it fun.

  • It was a good time. I just wish the instructors took the time to tell us how to work the car before pulling off we figure it out on our own. We also did not have on helmets yet when everyone started pulling out of no where with no warning. I also wish it lasted a little longer maybe another hour would of been great so we had more time at macao beach and the cave.

Other than that I would definitely do it again!

  • Very fun tour. Buggy company is very good. Only complaint, if other tourist are late, they should not make the WHOLE group wait for late tourist. There should be a disclaimer, if other passengers are late, they should forfeit their trip. We waited on the shuttle bus and at the buggy ranch for over 45 minutes for two people that could not show up on time like the rest of us. That was totally disrespectful to both the other tourist and to the tour guides.

  • We totally enjoyed the Dune Buggy tour....wasn't thrilled about all the folks trying to sell u stuff on the beach!

  • My buggy broke down 3 times and had to wait as did everyone behind me for an employee to fix it. Other buggies broke down in front of me too and the pathway is so narrow that you cant pass so everyone is forced to stop and wait for the buggy to be fixed. All of this waiting around takes time away from your stops at the beach and the cave pool thing gorgeous. I guess it would have been much better to spend the extra to go on the VIP with your own private guide. All in all the terrain was uninspiring extremely rocky. The highlight was the cave, but you literally have a few minutes and are being told to hurry up the whole time, so you cant even enjoy it. I've been on a better ATV excursion before and was looking for a similar experience and left disappointed.

  • took a private tour, with upgraded buggies but still had some mechanical problems, very nice beach
loved driving in the mud, but the cave with water was not easy to swim in
very aggressive local sales people but I kind of understand since we are basically driving in their back yard
    felt a little intrusive
    over all above average
the best part was our guide quite but very helpful and the photographer was exceptional and the cost of the photos was very reasonable
