Know More about this tour

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! It's time to rip up the Dominican off road and get a bit muddy!
From our ranch in Macao, we go tearing through the remote farmland of northern Punta Cana, passing palm trees and tobacco plantations with the Oriental Mountain Range deep in the background. These narrow, secluded country roads offer a safe haven for deep pools of mud that we'll go barging through again and again. At first, you may try and avoid the mud, but soon you'll give into the filth. This excursion is not for the dainty.
Our first stop is at a quaint country ranch for an introduction on local produce like cocoa, coffee, tobacco and Mamajuana (a Dominican aphrodisiac elixir) and green tea leaves. Back into the rocky off-road, among panoramic views of endless farmland and distant mountains, our excursion leads us to a picturesque cave complete with a deep natural swimming hole. Jump in, cool off and bathe in these refreshing underground waters.
The longest stretch of our drive is also the largest contrast. From the hidden countryside cave, we retrace our muddy path, and then some, to the shores of the photogenic Macao Beach, one of the last resort free coastal stretches of Punta Cana. Here, we'll have time to enjoy this idealistic Caribbean Beach with rows of palm trees and azure waters.
So, rev your engine and get muddy with us on this Macao Buggy Adventure!

  • Very fun tour. Buggy company is very good. Only complaint, if other tourist are late, they should not make the WHOLE group wait for late tourist. There should be a disclaimer, if other passengers are late, they should forfeit their trip. We waited on the shuttle bus and at the buggy ranch for over 45 minutes for two people that could not show up on time like the rest of us. That was totally disrespectful to both the other tourist and to the tour guides.

  • We totally enjoyed the Dune Buggy tour....wasn't thrilled about all the folks trying to sell u stuff on the beach!

  • My buggy broke down 3 times and had to wait as did everyone behind me for an employee to fix it. Other buggies broke down in front of me too and the pathway is so narrow that you cant pass so everyone is forced to stop and wait for the buggy to be fixed. All of this waiting around takes time away from your stops at the beach and the cave pool thing gorgeous. I guess it would have been much better to spend the extra to go on the VIP with your own private guide. All in all the terrain was uninspiring extremely rocky. The highlight was the cave, but you literally have a few minutes and are being told to hurry up the whole time, so you cant even enjoy it. I've been on a better ATV excursion before and was looking for a similar experience and left disappointed.

  • took a private tour, with upgraded buggies but still had some mechanical problems, very nice beach
loved driving in the mud, but the cave with water was not easy to swim in
very aggressive local sales people but I kind of understand since we are basically driving in their back yard
    felt a little intrusive
    over all above average
the best part was our guide quite but very helpful and the photographer was exceptional and the cost of the photos was very reasonable

  • over all above average
we took a private tour with upgraded buggies but still few mechanical issues
guide was quite but very helpful
photographer was excellent and price of photos was very reasonable
aggressive local sales people, but I understand since we are kin of driving in there back yard
    over all average

  • I'm sure there are good buggy excursions in Punta Cana, but this is not one of them. We were in a group of approximately 40 buggies, of which at least 15 broke down - we even saw a buggy's tire literally fall off while A person was driving it. The entire trip can be summarized as waiting for either your buggy or one of the ones in front of you to be fixed while you inhale fumes with occasionally slow driving in between breakdowns. Even the stops along the way market, cenote, and beach were not worth the trip, and were even more stressful when worried that the group of buggies may leave without you.

I wish that I could not only get a refund for this trip but also my lost vacation day back. Hopefully I can at least save somebody else the loss. Choose a different adventure or simply stay at your resort, sip on your drink, and know that you made the right choice.

  • I thought this was okay. You don't really get to go very fast. The buggies are easy to operate though. When you're on the trail there are a bunch of kids trying to sell you things so you have to be careful and go slow. Every stop was basically a ploy to try to get you to buy something. The underground cave was really cool though and probably my favorite part. You stop in a little village and again, they will hunt you down to try to get you to buy something. Towards the end of the tour you get to the beach which had a nice cliff view to the side. You're only there for about 10 minutes and again, people trying to sell you something. I guess that is to be expected here though. I feel like the tour was rushed. I went in July and there was no mud at all which I was really looking forward to. Obviously it wasn't their rainy season. When I was there in the waiting area they had three kittens running around and a little monkey named Bruno. They let him out of the cage and he would hop from shoulder to shoulder. You get to take pictures with him, no charge. That was probably one of my favorites parts too lol.

  • Very fun. If you aren't afraid to get dirty, this is an exciting excursion.

  • The buggy adventure was worth the money. We had a great time throughout the entire excursion. The only thing I would have changed would be to spend more time at the Macao beach.

  • This tour was absolutely amazing!!!!! The dune buggies go really fast and they are very easy to use. One thing I loved about this tour was the swimming in the underwater cave!! IT WAS SOOO REFRESHING!!! Also, MACAO BEACH was breathtaking!! Clear blue waters and you can enjoy a coconut or two lol.
