We will depart San juan del sur by 8:00 am to catch the first Ferry to Ometepe Island. Your guide will be waiting in Moyogalpa and head directly to Volcan Maderas.The local guide willprovide everyone with specific instructions. We will providefresh local fruits and snacks, make sureto pack plenty of water, some food and wear long pants and sturdy hiking boots. We will spend at least 30 minutes on the summit so you can enjoy the views, nature's beauty and the lagoon.Descending willtake approximately 3 hours.
Upon arriving to the bottom the guide will take you to a local restaurant for traditional Nicaraguan dinner.
You will be lodging in Moyogalpa and take the next morning Ferry back to San Jorge and back to San juan del sur or your next destination.

Overview
Maderas Volcano is 1,400 meters high. Coffee plantations are located at the bottom part of the volcano. More uphill grows a cloud forest a quality in the Pacific only shared by the Mombacho volcano. A high humidity and a dense forest are the result of this climate. Furthermore, there is a lagoon in the inactive crater of the volcano.Volcan Maderas has great trails but are steep and can be only accessed by foot. As you hike you will come across petroglyphs and impressive views of Concepcin volcano and the lakeHiking will get tougher from this point. The humidity transforms the trail into a muddy, slippery path. The more you ascend, the worse it gets, but the reward will be great once you reach the summit. The guided hike will take up to 3 hours and at the top you'll get to see the lagoon on the crater of the volcano, monkeys howl on the background is quite a mystical experience.
