Know More about this tour

The public aquarium has 41 tanks including reptiles, insects and amphibians, amongst others, Mediterranean fish, including fish commonly found in Maltese waters together with replicas of historical artefacts that one can find in the seas around the Maltese islands.

The main tank of the aquarium houses species from the Indian Ocean, including eight black tip sharks, horn sharks, rays, eels and other exotic species. The main tank is approximately 12 meters in diameter and has a walk-through tunnel that allows visitors to experience the fish at a much closer range.

All tanks are expertly themed to replicate the underwater environment. Additional features of the public aquarium include a class room facility, interpretation, touch pools, a temporary exhibition space, veterinary and quarantine facilities, etc.

The national aquarium is in an iconic curved shell structure in the form of a starfish. The adjacent promenade provides additional recreation facilities for pedestrians including a childrens play area.

The Malta National Aquarium has a car park with a capacity for 140 cars.

The place is not as big as it seems from outside. But the staff is very polite and welcoming, interesting story about the fish presented there. We were invited to watch the feeding of the fish in a biggest tank. Nicely spend time.

it was average. don't get me wrong I enjoyed seeing the different types of see life but its clear this meant for a family day out and not solo. the best think about the trip was that I paid extra to do the behind the scenes tour which showed the containment area, kitchen , laboratory and above the shark tank, the only complaint have is that the aquarium was just a bit small.

Great for children and the decor is nice. Other than that, there are no real wow' sea creatures in the aquarium, seems like they are still growing and building. Maybe in another 2-5 years they may have larger and exotic sea animals.

A really nice morning spent there. The aquarium is in a beautiful location. Inside, the aquarium was beautifully kept and the exhibits were well displayed.
