We read the terrible reviews but they were quite old (pre-COVID) so we decided to give the half day trip to Mana Island the benefit of the doubt. It was a mistake. We paid about $200 AUD each for a half day cruise departing at 1215. Advertised was a beautiful island, nice cruise and a buffet lunch. The ferry was well organised and enjoyable to get to Mana Island. Things went downhill as soon as we arrived. We were met by a host who promptly told us we were the only ones for the day trip. We also heard a detailed story of how tired they were was and they'd need to pay for their own lunch on Mana Island. We then walked to the 'resort' which was very, very quiet and TBH, like a children's summer camp. Not sure why we took a day trip to a resort inferior to our own. We got taken to a cafeteria and told that during low season, there is in fact, no buffet. We were given a snack menu and told we could choose two items that came to $40 each. Chicken curry, burgers, fish and chips were available and one dessert. Our combination of items came to $42 which caused a kafuffle. Food was very average. If no buffet during low season, why not update the description? After lunch, you can then explore the resort and island. Pool was not nice and we walked around the grounds to get to the multiple look out points. The views are great but the entire island is pretty neglected and not the romantic pacific island experience you might imagine. We tried to get a drink on the beach but they didn't accept cash AND didn't accept card - could only charge to your room - we were not guests, of course. Thank God it was only a half day trip - we quickly ran out of things to do and it was HOT. Cruise was very nice on the way back. If South Sea Cruises simply charged the cost of a ferry ride instead of a "half day tour", it would have been fine. To charge around $200 AUD per person , is a joke and a rip off. Avoid this day cruise and by extension, I'd also avoid South Sea Cruises.

The island was beautiful and the lunch was good. My only complaint is that the tour company did not share that the resort does not take cash. I wasted time waiting for a supervisor at the resort to approve the bartender taking cash. If they stated this in the description, I would’ve brought my wallet with my cards. Other than that Samson was helpful and nice.

We did the Mana Island Half Day tour (9-3pm), however I would not recommend it. It takes 1hr 30mins to get there, so takes up most of your time. Felt like we just got there, had orientation tour, 30 mins snorkeling then lunch and had to board boat transfer back for another 1hr 30mins. Very rushed and wished we had whole day there to enjoy the fantastic island.

You can be sure that you will through away your money. I took the half day tour, the food at the buffet was terrible bad and the restaurant is dirty and full of flies, the resort is old and in very bad condition, two good things are that personal is nice and the sand is white, but the rest is bad. Beach is full of plants and the water is not clear. Not worth it

One of the worst tours ever. Pickup and the ship transport was fine and normal. Once we reached Mana island resort, everything went downhill. The lunch buffet was poor, stale and really barely edible. The snorkelling, supposedly the highlight, was the worst ever. The beach where you are supposed to snorkel in has a like almost 100m of shallow rocks, and it's extremely shallow, like 5cm from your body in a snorkelling position. With the waves and everything it is almost impossible to snorkel and you will get scratched non-stop by the rocks. With your fins and the extremely uneven surface you can't walk either. There wasn't much to see too, even after getting out 100m to the slightly deeper waters. Snorkelling equipment was also poorly maintained. Halfway through the hotel turned off the water supply and there was no toilet everywhere, the public showers, toilet, everywhere was out of water. And no staff could be bothered guests enquiries. For a 5-star resort with room rates going at $450 per night, the state of their facilities is truly appalling. The guide who was supposed to bring us around was unmotivated, doesn't care about anything at all, and just wanted everything for her own convenience at the inconvenience of all passengers. The ship was supposed to arrive at 4.45pm for the return journey, and at 3.30pm the guide already rounded everyone up and said it was time to go. We reached the jetty at 3.45pm and she brought everyone to a sweltering shed 50m outside the lobby that was closer to the jetty and got everyone to sit there. Guests were saying its hot here and we could sit at the lobby where there are fans and she just plainly rejected their suggestion and said 'please wait here, ship is coming'. And then she promptly retreated to the lobby herself to en joy the cool shade and fans, making everyone wait almost an hour until the ship arrived at 4.45pm. Zero professionalism.Complete waste of time for the tour and not even cheap at all at almost US$100 per person. Don't ever book with them.

We had a great time on our day trip to Mana. The island was beautiful with nice white sandy beach & crystal clear water. Snorkelling was awesome and the food was lovely. Highly recommended this tour.
-
it is an amazing trip! Beware that the sea floor is covered with stones and corals. It's better to take swimming shoes with you.
