Excellent overall experience. We enjoyed the interactive opportunities. Jose Bello, one of the guides, was excellent!

Had a great time walking through at least 7 ships; from those with sails and made with wood to the diesel USS Dolphin submarine. Very cool! You need at least 2 hours and at $20/person the price was reasonable.

Lots of different old time boats to roam around in. Plus a sub you could go inside and check out. The museum had lots of cool things to look at.

Got there early. Friendly check in staff. Friendly staff explaining most of the ships. Fun fast tour. You'll spend about an hour and a half.

I was so excited to go - then just disappointed. A couple boats were being worked on & the “museum” (white building) was also under construction. We couldn’t go to the downstairs or the upstairs. We didn’t know about the situation until we were there & touring. Too much $$ to see nothing.

My husband loves everything history and ocean related. I surprised him with tickets to the museums for his birthday and we couldn't be happier with the grand experience. The weather was perfect so we were able to board and explore all ships. Talk about history - each vessel was unique in Her own way. Stepping into each one felt like we were stepping back in time as the ships felt seaworthy. Wear your walking shoes because you can easily spend 4 or more hours exploring. We will definitely return and take the guided/harbor tour with the PCF 816 Swift boat!

Loved the historical information. There was a school group there while we were there which was great to see!

  • 16-Mar-2023

We enjoyed boarding the ships and learning about the historical voyages these ships embarked. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to board the submarine and the Californian due to weather but there is plenty of other ships and exhibits to experience.

Step Aboard and Explore the Fascinating World of Seafaring at Maritime Museum of San Diego! Visitors can access several unique ships including a ferry, submarine, and sailing vessels each with its own story to tell. The museum offers a great learning experience and can take a few hours to fully explore. Conveniently located near the Pier B terminal, we went during the break between doing a back to back cruise. My three year old loved the monsters exhibit.

We toured a submarine, steam ship, and five historic sailing vessels. I think anyone would enjoy the experience at Maritime Museum of San Diego. We spent three hours there. It was well worth the admission price. I highly recommend it.
