What an amazing weekend of tours and wining and dining with Marlborough Tours our group of 25 enjoyed this weekend - our bus driver Chris was great at sharing his knowledge of local places of interest, Cougar boat tours took us to Punga Lodge where we enjoyed a fabulous lunch and then on to Omaka for tour and a wonderful catered three course dinner - supurb. Day two he collected us and back to Omaka for a private tour of the aeroplane exhibits from WW1 and WW2 - what a fabulous display. Then off to Wither Hills Yineyard for a sumptuous 3 course wines match lunch - just a perfect finish to our reunion weekend - thanks to you all - amazing staff and service L and P Parsons Christchurch
The tour was fantastic, especially the boat trip in the Sounds. They even dropped me at the airport at the end of the day to catch my flight! Considering it's a full day trip with wine and food included (a lunch is paid separately but you only really need a snack as there's food on the boat), its great value.
We went down for one day icon tour, half a day at the winery and half a day on the cruise. It is an amazing experience.
Excellent day out. Everything taken care of. Lovely day on the sounds and time to explore Ships Cove. Our winery lunch was beautiful and we really enjoyed the personalised wine tour where we got to experience some wineries and wines we normally wouldn’t have discovered if we did it on our own. Phil was very thoughtful and even offered to call into a supermarket on our way home to get supplies for the night as we were staying out of town. Highly recommended for a great day out.
the tour was amazing, heather was fantastic and took us to extra places because we had more time. Every winery was amazing and the lunch was also delicious. The cruise was beautiful and relaxing and we had such a good group. Would definitely do it again amd will recommend to others
We have done quite a few vineyard tours in different parts of the world but this one was absolutely superb. From being picked up at our motel in the morning by our lovely tour guide (Heather?) to arriving back there at the end of a glorious day we had the best of times. The tour was a small one - 6 people in a minibus - and the guide was helpful, knowledgeable and very flexible. We visited four different Marlborough vineyards, including Cloudy Bay and the first sparkling wine house in NZ. Lunch in Picton was very well organised - orders were telephoned to the restaurant in advance- and the food was delicious. The afternoon was spent on a fabulous boat, cruising the Sound from Picton. We feasted on a wonderful platter of Green-Lipped Mussels, Clams, bread and oil all washed down with a glass of Marlborough region wine. Free tea and coffee was available all afternoon. There was no danger of seasickness as the Sound is enclosed by land and nowhere near the open sea. Highly recommended for lovers of wine and boat trips.
if you're thinking about this. go for it. We had the best time! We were picked up from our B&B and driven firstly to Cloudy Bay (oh the bubbly!) by our friendly and knowledgeable driver and then on to Wairau River, a smaller family-run winery (the pinot gris was our favourite there). From there to Havelock for a lovely lunch. Soon afterwards and we're sailing through the Marlborough Sounds - stunning scenery, great commentary - fabulous atmosphere thanks to the perfect team comprising Penny, our driver and his colleague driver. I am ashamed that I can't recall their names but they were brilliant and prepared a lovely snack for us of mussels, fresh crusty bread accompanied by (yet another - not complaining), glass of Marlborough Sauvingon Blanc - perfect! It really was a fabulous day out! I am so disappointed that I can't recall our driver's name but we did our trip on Sunday 16th February so would really appreciate it if you could pass on our thanks. (Booking in name of Ian Sharp).
We did the wine tasting and greenshell mussel cruise. Can thoroughly recommend the experience. We were picked up from the door by the very amiable Bruce. His natural friendly nature made us feel like we’d known him for years. We had a couple of stops at wineries for some tasting. Then a snack lunch at Havelock. Followed by river boat cruise. Everyone was so friendly, professional and hospitable. There were just 3 couples on the wine tasting and 4 on the cruise which made it more intimate and friendly. Highly recommended. Just wish I could remember all the wines we tried. Guess we’ll have to go round again!
Really enjoyable day out: two wineries, with lots of different wines to sample, followed by lunch in Havelock and then a spectacular cruise on the sounds. Our hosts (taxi driver Bruce and boat crew Lexi and Paul) were really friendly and a mine of information on the local area and on the wine and mussel business. One of the highlights of our holiday.
We was picked up by the lovely Heather and taken to a chocolate factory then for a mutiple wine tour followed by a lovely lunch then a mussel boat tour and feast. Brilliant day learnt loads about food and wine great team onboard and taken back to hotel after. All in all a great day out with a lovely team of Chris Paul and Heather
