Overview

What we know today as the Mazatlan Lighthouse, one of the highest natural lighthouses in the world, is settled in what once was an island.

It was in the year of 1828 when the Island of Crestn began to be used for maritime signaling the port of Mazatln and until 1930 when the necessary work was done to unite this body of land separated from the port by the breakwater as we know it today.

With a length of 641 meters, 321 meters wide and an altitude of 157 meters, the Mazatlan Lighthouse offers the ideal place to enjoy a 360 degree view of the bay landscapes.

The perfect place to take photos of the nearby islands and the city!

Its worth the visit...great way to see the sights and get your heart pumping. Pathway is combination of pavement and gravel...

This attraction is definitely not for people with mobility issues! The 1km winding ascent walk to the lighthouse consists of gravel and uneven stairs that you have to climb to get to the top. There are rest areas along the way where you can catch your breath and enjoy the view. There is a washroom at the bottom of the path, none at the top. The cost to use the washroom is 10 pesos per person. Once you reach the top the view is spectacular. You have the option to walk out onto a cantilever walkway for a fee. You must however note that you cannot access the inside of the lighthouse. To reach this attration you can go by cab or pulmonia which will drop you off at the start of the walk up to the lighthouse. If you go by bus you must walk the length of the causeway before reaching the start of the walk up the hill. Bring comfortable footware and water!

Muy buen lugar, un excelente recorrido, aunque hay que considerar que el tramo es amplio de caminata

Cesar picked us up at our hotel and escorted us to the lighthouse with a mini tour of Mazatlan (due to a bike rally making travel on Malecon diverted). Water and snacks were provided plus fees/BR visit and a personal guide thru the sights as we climbed the 322 steps. Reminded me of Sabino Canyon as passed many families on the same trek to a beautiful overview of Mazatlan and the surrounding ocean (glass bridge). All in all a wonderful experience with a bit of exercise, breathing in that ocean air!
