Know More about this tour

One of our courteous and knowledgeable tour guides picks you up at your hotel in a new comfortable vehicle.
You will be transported to the metro station where you will enjoy a smooth ride along with pleasant views of the city, the river, and of the Andes mountains that surround the valley.
The first stop is in Downtown Medellin, where you will be mesmerized by the magnificent sculptures of maestro Fernando Botero, one of the world's most renowned sculptors. There is no cost to view these stunning statues. Bring a descent camera, our guides have all taken photography courses and will be delighted to take postcard perfect images of you embracing these larger than life sculptures for your memories.
From here we continue on foot to really feel the vibe of the downtown area and experience old colonial churches, plazas, the stunning cultural house edifice, and much more!
Next, we jump on board the Metro cable (aerial cable car) which was constructed for the purpose of alleviating traffic, improving overall city transport and accommodating citizens, enabling them to enjoy connectivity from their respective barrios to the metro, and other means of transport.
This sturdy and well maintained cable car will take us to our next destination, the Santo Domingo Savio library, a modern edifice donated by the King of Spain. You have the option of getting off here for a short walk.
The gorgeous picturesque town of El Pueblito Paisa in central Medellin is our last stop. This delightfully charming town is reminiscent of how Medellin looked like in the past. You'll experience captivating views of the city from the top! The town contains a lovely little church, a charming museum, cute shops with handcrafted items.
If you are choosing the cable car ride that hovers over the magnificent forest of Arvi Park, please be aware that there is an additional cost since the tour will be extended for an extra hour and a half to two hours.
Guests will be dropped off at their hotel or place of stay in the same comfortable vehicle.

  • It was an excellent tour. The guide is very knowledgeable about all of Medellin and his English is great. He was able to cater to my requests with no problems. Parque Arvi is a great addition to this tour, you do not want to miss the views. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

  • Lina was fantastic. It truly felt like having a friend show us around the city. I loved her personal stories as well. Would definitely recommend this tour to a friend.

  • Alex was an excellent tour guide much better than similar tours offered on Viator. He is respectful, informative and fun. His english is impeccable as was the car we drove around in. Please make sure to look at his tours, it was well worth it!

  • Excellent tour! My guide, Wilson, was very knowledgeable about the city and it's history. He is bilingual and helped translate some conversations with locals. Also well informed on local industry, politics and government.

  • It's as if we had a friend in Medellin showing us around. Alex made our day in Medellin a highlight on our first every visit to Colombia. Alex greeted us at our hotel in the morning, and drove us firstly to Pueblito Paisa for a great view of the city. The tour also offered an experience to take the Metro, ride the MetroCable, and walk around the Barrio, among other locations as described accurately on the Itinerary.

We had a fantastic time! We felt comfortable and completely safe through the entire time. Alex is a true local, spoke American English, attentive to our questions and needs, and passionate about sharing the history and culture of Colombia.

Alex customized our schedule with his time and arranged an excursion to Guatape and El Peñol which would've otherwise taken us another day before driving us to the airport in the evening.

To our friends and family who, like us, speaks de nada español, we recommend booking flights and hotels on your own and arrange local tours that picks up and drops off at your hotel. This way, you get the most value for your dollars and hours by taking advantage of flight/ hotel deals on the internet, with a full local immersion minus the headache of navigating from one site to another.

  • Our guide was Alex, the head of his own Medellin tour agency. Alex had left Medellin with his mom as a six year old, grew up in LA, and only returned 7 years ago and set up his own agency two years ago. So there was absolutely no problem with his English since he sounded like a true American. And he clearly loves Medellin and very proud of his city. The half-day tour that Medellin Travels offered consisted of riding the metro to get to downtown, taking in the Botero Plaza, a couple of churches, some monuments and squares, taking a trip on the cable car to the poorer hillside district, and then finishing up at Pueblito Paisa, the recreated Paisa village.

We did miss the Domingo Savio library which seemed to be under renovation at the time. But the tour itinerary did promise the cable car trip to the summit but we turned around to get back down at the Santo Domingo stop so I thought that was an oversight.

Alex was very attentive, gave a lot of good insider information and very courteous. I would heartily recommend the tour to people who want to experience downtown like a local. But confirm with the tour guide before going that you will do the cable car to the summit.

The Pablo Escobar Tour was two hours and we added this to our morning city sightseeing tour for an additional 50 per person. The tour, aside from all the historical information that Alex provided, consisted of visits to his graveyard, where hes buried with his parents plus trusted maid and bodyguard to the house where he was gunned down, and captured forever in Boteros painting and the building where he and his family lived where there was bomb assassination attempt on his life. These three sites seem to be the standard stops for Escobar tours. The plus with Medellin Travels is that Alex personally knew people affected by Escobar including an uncle who was killed and cousins who worked with and against the famed drug lord and he injected their and his stories into the absorbing narrative. Very much worth the time.

  • El Paisa es bien pasiero!. Recommend it 100 .. Alex really puts dedication and goes above and beyond to help you have the best experience of Medellin...I took the Medellin City Private Tour and he really added the value of visiting the city, he provided historical information without being scripted, he was very honest advising me on prices for items and also making sure I didn't overpay for items while buying. we visited the Botero Park, we took the metro and metro cable, visited the Nutibara town...and .. I was about to go home the next day without going to El Peñol one of the main reasons I visited Medellin he went the extra mile and made sure I was able to go! really appreciate it, we visited Guatape, el Pueblito Paisa, etc he took wonderful pictures, we also visited several places along the way, and the best of all is that you feel your are on a road trip with a friend.

  • Alex was EXCELLENT! He ROCK! His passion to share his culture Paisa, knowledge of history and ways to put it in the story was great I learned a lot from his tour. Con Mucho Gusto Alex! Gorgeous art deco building Palacio de la Cultura Rafel Uribe Uribe. Botero Plaza where famous Colombian artist Fernando Botero donated his amazing sculptures. Alex said Botero thought both women and men are equal, so in his art- they are measured at the same height. Modern metro cables cars link the city to surrounding barrios and offer sweeping views of the Aburrá Valley below. Pueblito Paisa highest mountain in the center of the city. I really did not expect city to be so BIG!! Highly recommend this private tour for anyone. Alex spoke excellent English, on-time and very attentive. Will not let you down. Thank you Alex for great tour!
