Overview

Mera Peak (6,654 m) is the highest permitted trekking peak of Nepal. It stands to the south of Everest and dominates the watershed between the heavily wooded valleys of the Hinku and Hongu Drangkas. J.O.M. Roberts and Sen Tenzing made the first successful ascent of Mera Peak on 20 May 1953. The route they used is still the standard route. There are many other routes to the peak, but none of them are easy. Some of them require crossing very high and difficult passes. This leads to a true mountaineering experience. In the end, all efforts and hard work is paid off with spectacular scenery as Mera provides one of the finest viewpoints in Nepal.

Know More about this tour

It is thought to be the second most famous climbing peak of Khumbu Region, Nepal after Island peak. It has 3 major summits Mera Peak North, Mera Peak Middle and Mera Peak South. Mera Peak North is highest peak among them, and South peak is smallest one. They have altitude of 6,476m, 6,461m and 6,065m continuously. It is thought to be the highest peak to climb in the world. From the Mera summit, we can enjoy the stunning circularized views of 8000m above Mountains Mt Everest (The Highest Mountain, Kanchenjungha, Lhotse, Makalu, Choyou etc). Let us tell you that it is most difficult climbing peak, so reaching on the elevation of this peak is quite dangerous. Therefore, you need to be ready to face that difficulty having the preparation of necessary equipment and physical fitness. High altitude glacier walking, climbing through snow-capped steep way is amazing and also quite terrible. However, every years, many adventure seekers come to reach on the head Mera Peak. Mera Peak offers a panoramic view of Chamlang, Kangchenjunga, Makalu, and Baruntse in the east and the peaks of Cho-Oyu, Ama Dablam and Kangtega to the west. Everest can be viewed to the north over the massive unclimbed south face of Lhotse and the Nuptse/Lhotse ridge. Under favourable conditions, it is possible to climb the peak and descend back on the same day.
