Know More about this tour

Start your experience with a hotel pickup by air-conditioned minivan, and travel the short distance to Meteora, a UNESCO-listed area known for its cliff monasteries, caves and ethereal rocky landscape.
On arrival, hop out of your minivan, and follow your guide on a leisurely hike along the trails that only the locals know. While tracing the footsteps of the first hermits and monks who lived in Meteora many centuries ago, chat with your guide and hear little-known stories about the area’s history, geology and sights.
Make your way along a gently climbing route from the Doupiani rock, just below the old ruins of the Pantokrator monastery. Amble around the imposing pillars of Meteora toward the northern side of the rocks and stumble upon the rarely visited monasteries of Ypapanti and St Dimitrios — two hidden Meteora gems.
As you listen to tales of bygone battles between the Ottoman Turks and locals, gaze further up the hill to see the Grand Meteora and Moni Varlaam monasteries, clinging to the cliffs. Visit one of these impressive monasteries with your guide (own expense) before hiking back to your Meteora start point.
At the Doupiani rock, reboard your minivan and finish the experience with a drop-off at your hotel.

  • Great guide! It was nicely paced, he was able to answer any questions and it was a great way to see and appreciate Meteora.

  • Great local guide who was himself an experienced climber and hiker, who knew the history as well as the plants and geology of the area. It is an actual hike, although the gain in altitude is gradual.

  • Amazing trip...I must see if you're in Greece! The hike was the absolutely best way to see the area, with a great guide knowing the history and best places for photo's. I was a bit concerned about only going into only one of the monasteries, but turns out that was sufficient. The beautiful surroundings were the real draw!

  • I debated doing this tour vs just going alone. I was happy I did it, it was informative and took us back in an area where there were several trails and it might have been difficult to follow the path yourself. I was also able to get some advice for hiking on my own later.

  • Our guide was perfect, he even helped one of the team who lost his phone in the forest to go back and find it. He knows about the different locations, plants and animals. He was very nice and helpful. Pity I forgot his name. Thanks guys. Keep the good work, highly recommended. Planing to go back there again. Surely I would book with same company.

  • Great way to spend the morning and really see the amazing views. Guide was very informative.
