Know More about this tour

Meet your expert tour guide at our office in central Florence. From here you will walk with your small group to the Accademia to learn about what is arguably the greatest artwork ever created, the majestic and mysterious David. On the only tour entirely dedicated to this masterpiece, discover the peculiar history behind the statue, its stone and its artist, how the figure of the David was chosen, and why Michelangelos statue held such importance to the Florentines and their city, the epicentre of the Renaissance. Discover the debate about where to place the statue and how this influenced the figures formation.

Much debate has been raised about the moment in which David is depicted. Hear the theories and draw your own conclusions on the pensive young man portrayed.Equally mysterious is the artist behind the Davids creation.

Learn about the Michelangelos peculiarities and dichotomies. Find out about the Medicis involvement in Michelangelos development and the artists relationship with other famous artists of the time.

This small-group Accademia tour also includes an introduction to Michelangelos other works housed inside the Accademia that provide great insight into how this master artist worked, bringing forth seemingly-incarnate figures from hardened stone.

With pre-reserved Accademia tickets included for the fastest possible entry to the museum with Florences best guides, this is the perfect way to see (and understand) Michelangelos David.

  • GREAT tour! Our guide I think her name was Debbie but I'm jet-lagged and have brain fog hahha really made this tour special. She clearly loved the subject and brought that feeling of excitement to her explanation of David. Highly recommend.

  • Tatiana was an enthusiastic and interesting guide. She spoke with passion, provided a lot of information and made the tour very enjoyable. Worth every penny! Thank you!

  • Worth the to be educated and avoid the lines. The statue of David is amazing!

  • The website does not indicate a 15 - 20 minute walk from the booking office to Accademia. For those who have difficulty walking, especially at the end of the day after already walking through Florence, this information was a deal breaker. We took a taxi to Accademia as we were told the tour group would arrive around 5:15 p.m. and we could enter at that time. 5:35 p.m. and the group had not arrived. We saw one of the agents from the booking office, took our 2 tickets, saw David, re-read the history from my IPHONE and left. This was perhaps our 7th visit to David so we are not novices. My guess is our personal history lesson was enough for most people as several times we have heard the history of the statues before one reaches David. Our only Viator tour that disappointed. If you get to Milan the half day sightseeing tour was fabulous!

  • This tour was absolutely amazing! Skip the Line option was perfect as the lines to enter the museum were quite long. To think that someone so young acquired the skill, an eye for detail and artistric abilities to create the majestic and almost human like Statue of David is just incredible!

  • Excellent tour. Our guide was very passionate and knowledgeable. Even my one friend who isn't too interested in history/art found this tour very interesting and well worth her time!

  • My family and I really enjoyed our tour. We are usually not tour people this is the first one we have taken, normally we get audio tours at museums and go at our own pace. This tour may have changed our mindset about tours. I booked this for my family because our trip to Italy happened on rather short notice and this was the only way to get tickets to see the David sculpture. I am so glad we booked it! We learned so much on this tour, much more than is on a typical audio tour or in a brochure. Our tour guide, Loredana, was not only professional and knowledgeable, but also charming. She clearly knew a great deal about her subject. We had some technical difficulties with the audio equipment which she handled with grace. I would highly recommend this tour--it brings a lot of life to the art!

  • Florence was our favorite city. Best in food. Friendly native people.
The tour was super. Very informative and a sense of humor. We got right in and avoided a long line.

  • Our tour guide was Barbara, she was excellent, very easy to understand and very informed about the museum, kept the small group of about 15 interested the whole tour.

  • A definite must see! This piece of art, Michelangelo's David, will render you speechless and in utter awe. Our guide with ArtViva Walking Tours did a fabulous job.
