After pickup, journey through the pristine mountain landscapes of Fiordland National Park. Encounter beautiful scenery; enjoy plenty of photo stops; and listen to your guides interesting and informative narration.

Marvel at the Avenue of Disappearing Mountains, an optical illusion where the mountains appear to sink into the surrounding beech forest. Crossing the halfway point between the equator and the South Pole, see stunning views over Hollyford Valley and the Darran Mountains before entering the Homer Tunnel and descending into lush rainforest canyons. You will also see majestic views of Mt Tutoko, the highest and most glaciated peak in Fiordland National Park.

Arrive at Milford sound, one of the worlds most magnificent natural wonders. If you choose the cruise-only option, this is where youll meet to start your tour. Board the boat for a 1.5-hour cruise, taking in the spectacular sights of waterfalls cascading from towering rock walls and verdant rainforests gripping the cliffs. Enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee or tea while watching seals, penguins and dolphins swim in the water.

You'll cruise Milford sound on a two-deck vessel that offers great viewing from inside and outside on both decks. Each cruise is limited to 100 passengers to ensure a choice of seating and uninterrupted viewing. It is the only vessel on Milford sound to provide a glass-roof, all-weather viewing area.

We decided to go on the coach and cruise tour, our driver and guide was great giving us history of the towns and places we drove through. It was a long day and if you have the chance I would fly back to Queenstown.Milford Sound is stunning and we had the sunshine all day.

Great trip just a long bus journey, which can’t be helped.
Driver very knowledgeable and informative great photo stops along the way too.

We took our tour from Te Anau which made the travel time in the bus shorter. Our driver was great giving us stops to enjoy the beautiful scenery and lots of history. Cruise into Milford Sound was jaw dropping. A great day.

Milford Sounds is by far the best place that we have visited in New Zealand. We were lucky enough to be visiting Milford sounds after rain as a result, there were a number of waterfalls with plenty of water. We enjoyed the bus drive as well as cruise. Thanks to JUCY for a great experience.

Beautiful area of the world. Long day of 12 hours on curvy roads but our driver kept good narration and lovely stops along the route to the sound. Other tours offered a small lunch box while on the cruise called High Tea. Our driver was able to find us two lunches when two others didn't make the trip. Viator should include this in their trip. A highlight of our 3 weeks in New Zealand. So glad we chose this tour.

Very long trip- I wish the booking warned about this. I didn't realize it would be a 12-hour day from Queenstown. Milford Sound was beautiful. The weather left more to be desired but we have no control over these things! While it was 80 degrees in Queenstown, Milford Sound was much cooler and rainier. We had a quick 30-minute lunch break in Te Anau. Pitas were available for purchase on the cruise. On the way back, we only had a 15-minute stop at Te Anau, so not much time for food and bathroom. I recommend packing snacks.

most stunning place on the planet

The bus driver/tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area, we very much enjoyed his commentary during the drive to Milford Sound! The bus was a bit crammed and did not have the glass ceiling that other tours offer hard to figure out from the available documentation provided. The boat was fine, a Pita Pit and a small coffee shop inside for food/drive if you feel like purchasing or a small stand of hot water/tea bags for free.

The Sound was BEAUTIFUL! We unfortunately didn't get to see any whales, but we did see some seals and some teeeeeny tiny penguins way off in the distance! It was a rainy/drizzly/overcast day, obviously not the tour company's fault, so all in all we enjoyed the trip. We sprang for the propeller flight back to Queenstown, which was freaking AMAZEBALLS. I think it was the best part! The views are just so awe-inspiring, we knew it would be a once-in-a-lifetime type of experience, so we dug deep in our pocketbooks for the chance.

I did not find this information when I was searching, so just FYI: The tour bus picked us up at about 8am or thereabouts. We arrived at the pier for the boat tour around 3pm and the boat tour finished around 5pm. The bus would not have returned us back to Queenstown until well after 10pm! That includes various photo stops on the way in and a VERY short break at a fairly expensive rest stop to quickly grab a snack both on the way in and the way out. Because we took the flight back rather than the bus, we got back to Queenstown just after 6pm. About 20 of the reason we paid for the flight was just to save ourselves 5 hours of bus time!
