Know More about this tour

Your 2-hour sightseeing cruise will depart from the Milford Sound Visitor Center.

Having a smaller launch (approximately 20 metres) allows your cruise to navigate closer to the shoreline, getting up close to the incredible surroundings. Purpose-built for Milford waters, your boat has great viewing platforms should you encounter the local fur seal colonies once nearly hunted to extinction, the rare Fiordland crested penguins or pods of dusky dolphins.

You will traverse into the deep waters of the Milford Sound and will have a chance to enter Milford Sound from the outside, approaching it just as the first settlers did at the end of the 18th century.

With more rainfall than any other part of New Zealand, Fiordland national park and Milford Sound provide spectacular scenery whatever the weather conditions.

Milford Sound is located at the northern most end of Fiordland national park on the South Island of New Zealand.

We really enjoyed our trip to Milford Sound. We booked the trip from Queenstown and our driver (I think his name was Andy) told us so many interesting facts about New Zealand and was friendly as hell. Milford Sound is definitely worth visiting. Unfortunately, it was really rainy that day, but still beautiful.

What an outstanding experience cruising around the Milford sound. Particularly nice on a rainy day as the waterfalls were full. It was informative and Maddie, one of the tour guide operators, was absolutely fantastic, warm and very helpful. Just another added surprise in a beautiful part of the world.

Milford sounds is beautiful and whatever company you choose for a cruise, you're in for a real treat! We were there on a sunny day, but apparently when it rains or just after rainfall it is even more spectacular with more and bigger waterfalls.

The flight to and from Milford Sound was the highlight of the trip. The weather was blue skies and being in the small 8 seater plane allowed us to see so much of the amazing scenery.

Great cruise - highly recommend. Dolphin encounter was the highlight!! Crew were good, boat comfortable and never felt crowded. Complimentary tea & coffee a bonus !

Flying over the mountains, and seeing the beauty of Milford Sound in the cruise boat. The weather was excellent so that was a great advantage, and the commentary by the pilot of the plane and the commentary by the boat captain helped very much in knowing what we were looking at.

This was absolutely the best part of our trip around the south island. This cruise ship was smaller than some of the others, and that is a huge bonus; there was less people, and easy to go from the upper deck viewing down to the lower deck for an up close look. We were lucky enough to see penguins, orcas, dolphins, and seals! The staff and crew were friendly, courteous, and full of interesting information about the fiord. I highly recommend this experience!

We booked the whole package with coaches as the drive is very long. Mitre Peak Cruises works with Altitude drivers and it felt very safe. Cool drive and stories about NZ flora and fauna on the way. Cruise was really good, we were lucky enough to have good weather and saw seals, penguin and a dolphin! I will recommend this company to all my friends wanting to get the Milford sound experience!

You don't need to go to Norway to see the Fiord. Sailing on Milford Sound is like in a dream, big mountains between the cruise ship and water cascading from the slopes is something I don't see it often.
