You know that a tourist cultural show is not Broadway or the London West End. Right. In that sense, the Mohabbat e Taj at the Kalakriti Cultural and Convention Centre in Agra is as tacky as you would expect. The dance and costumes are nice. The implementation is poor. And the patriotic ending, unnecessary. If only a good theatre producer could come along and be given the freedom to redo the whole thing, it could have the potential to shine as much as the lovely Taj Mahal model that rises on stage at the end. Meanwhile, I would suggest you think twice before going along. And if you are a musical theatre nutter like me, well, go for the cheapest tickets for the sake of the experience.

Mostly women’s dance with a little storytelling. 10 languages headphone available. If you had time at night in Agra would be a good choice. However, I have watched better Indian dance before. Absolutely no photography allowed.
