Know More about this tour

Youll be picked up from a central Paris meeting point or your hotel (depending on option selected) in the early morning to begin your full-day adventure to Mont St-Michel. Sit back and enjoy the views on the long coach drive north through the beautiful Normandy countryside.
Arrive at Mont St-Michel in the late morning for your guided walking tour of this iconic attraction, perched on a rocky island amid a vast bay and encircled by stout ramparts and battlements. After fueling up with lunch and refreshments (included), follow your expert guide on a walk to the top of the hilly village, where youll then travel back in time as you enter the fascinating abbey.
Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, Mont St-Michel was a major cultural and pilgrimage center during the Middle Ages. Legend has it that the abbey was founded in the 8th century, when Aubert, the bishop of Avranches, was visited by the Archangel Michael in a dream. To this day the abbey is still crowned by a gilded copper statue of Michael slaying a dragon, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.
See the abbeys remarkable cloister and refectory, and view how the ramparts have been added to support the Gothic monastery over the centuries. Youll also hear about this attraction's most well-known and alluring feature: the extreme tides. At low tide, the island can be surrounded by bare sand for miles, but at high tide barely six hours later the water swells up and fills the bay, surrounding the entire island.
After your tour, youre free to wander the village around Mont St-Michel on your own. Walk around the abbey's ramparts, browse the shops along the main street, visit the island's museums, and watch the sea rush in from the Atlantic and surround Mont St-Michel at high tide.
You will spend approximately four hours at Mont St-Michel before departing on your relaxing drive back to Paris.

  • Awesome excursion to this little gem of Normandy not far from Paris. Take a step back in time as you walk the steps of Mont St.- Michel. Please do keep in mind that it does take around 4 hours to and from Paris each way, but worth it. If you are lucky, you may also see the tide come in and surround the island, which we were fortunate to witness during our day outing.

  • I had an amazing time in this tour. Well worth the long ride to and fro Paris.

  • Fun day trip, abd loved Mont St. Michel.

  • This is honesty a tour of a lifetime. I have always been fascinated about Mont Saint-Michel and finally seeing it in person was even more magical than I expected. The long drive was quite scenic and the weather changed from rainy to snowy and then finally sunny in the Normandy region. The lunch provided was quite average, but filling.

The wind getting to the citadel was the strongest wind I've ever experienced but once inside it wasn't too bad. There are a lot of stairs, especially leading up to the abbey so be prepared. The abbey is absolutely amazing and the views from the top are absolutely breathtaking unlike anything I've seen before. Our tour guide was very informative and gave a very detailed account of the history, especially in regards to how the monks used the church and how everything was laid out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it. It really shows you the beauty of France away from busy Paris.

  • Our tour guide Natie was lovely. She really knew her stuff regarding the Normandy region and Mont St.-Michel. My husband and I did this as one of three days trips from Paris, and we really loved this trip. Just a word to the wise, however, if you go to the Le Relais St. Michel for lunch, pay close attention to any purchases made in the gift shop. I was overcharged by about double for some calvados souvenirs, when taking into consideration that tax is 20 it really added up!!! I'm going to try reaching out to the restaurant to see if they will reimburse the difference, but I'm not too confident about it.

Anyway, the Mont St.-Michel was a wonder to look at, the lunch at the hotel was very good particularly the camembert appetizer...out of this world!, and the tour bus and guide were both way above par. I would highly recommend this tour.

  • Great tour, bus is comfortable, guides were very knowledgeable. Mont St-Michel is a fascinating place. Lunch was nice not the best we had in France but still filling. It is a very long trip out but well worth the visit, the surrounding areas are beautiful.

  • The tour went off without a was very easy/cheap to take a taxi to the agency from our hotel compared to the 40./person pick up fee.....the bus left and arrived at destination on time....the guide was excellent....knew her stuff/ empathetic with the slower people at the back of the group/easy to deal with/and friendly...the lunch was delicious and more than just an omelet was a 3 course substantial lunch.
Mt St. Michel did not disappoint except that the tides were low when we were no illusion of an island.... not the tour's fault
There were a lot of people/tourists with many French visitors.....apparently it was a school holiday and many families with kids were there...made it more interesting....
The only reason I did not give it a 4 star is not because of deficiency of the the tour itself....more of the own point of view of the monastery itself.....

  • Amazing tour with a wonderful guide who is very knowledgeable. You have to be quite lucky with the weather though, so plan accordingly.

  • Long ride from Paris but a very comfortable bus. The ride was well worth it when we saw Mont St-Michel. It is awe inspiring to think that they could build this on a rock that is, at times, surrounded by water! After lunch fish main course, we took a bus out to the island. The tide was out and there were several groups walking around it on the sand. Lots of small restaurants and tourist shops inside as you start to go up. There are many, many steps so if climbing them is an issue, you can wander around on lower levels. This is something for your bucket list.

  • Long travel times, but definitely worth the trip. Mont St. Michel was a sight to see and experience.
The only thing I would change, if other modes of transport is available, is to make the travel substantially less. The only consolation was the bus was quite comfortable, and the drivers were excellent.
