You will also taste some local products such as cold meat and salami, together with some typical bruschetta.

The second stop of the day will be Monteriggioni fortress, a magnificent medieval village with beautifully preserved city walls.

  • This was an amazing tour. Wine was superb, and the countryside was so very relaxing. Was the highlight of all things done in Florence and the region.

  • Tour was just OK. We didn't think it was amazing but we also did not hate it. 2nd winery tasting did seem rushed and owners were only interested in selling to us vs education. Overall it was fine, but i probably wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

  • It didn't start out well, We were herded onto a huge packed bus with no leg room, which left late. I was really wishing I hadn't booked the tour. The tour guide did a great job with her commentary in several languages, but i would suggest in future she ask people to be courteous to others and not speak while she speaks, as it made it hard to hear her. However things definitely improved at the wineries. Both were well organised to cater for such large crowds and the speakers at both were funny and informative. The little town we visited was also lovely. Unfortunately we were still running late so had little time there. The bus back was even more uncomfortable as they wouldn't turn on the aircon for some reason, even though they were asked, and it was stifling. The tour wasn't expensive so overall i would say it was value for money, but I don't ever want to get back on one of those buses.

  • The tour guides weren't that great but it didn't take away from the experience. The tour itself was a lot of fun and the other people on our tour were super nice. The places we stopped at were absolutely beautiful, and the people giving the demonstrations at each place were great. We bought wine, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Definitely recommend!

  • A good variety of wineries and tastings, and a quick-easy way to see the tuscan region. However it was a large tour group being bussed around... if you dont mind large groups then it covers a good variety in a short time one afternoon

  • The instructions say meet at 2.45pm, our group of 6 arrived there at 2.30pm and about 5 minutes later a man appeared with a placard and told a member of the party to get down to the end of platform 16 go down the ramp as the bus is leaving in 3 minutes go now. When I asked him to repeat that, he said I have already told this person now get down there the bus is leaving.
We are all in our late 50's and quite honestly he expected us to run down the lengthy platform, I thought he was the rudest person I had come across. However once we got down there the ticket girls were fine and nobody was going to get left behind.
The trip itself was fascinating and tiring, yet very informative. Although repeating everything twice after English ie Italian and French meant we were missing sights as we passed them.
However after all that tasting the many wines with the nibbles was a fab experience and well worth the price of the ticket. Please do go on this trip as the Vinyards are quite amazing along with the landscape surrounding them.

  • The bottom line: no air conditioning on the bus, very small pours at both wineries, and barely any time to see the walled city. Not the best. I would rather have spent more money to get a better tour. Read on for more details.

    First impression: 2 stars
First of all: the bus is NOT air conditioned. We arrived to the train station meeting place just in time for our group to walk to a charter bus. I was surprised by the size of the bus for our small group, and when we got on the bus was packed full, so the tour group was not cute and small but massive and loud (70 people). The bus was also barely air conditioned (in Florence in late July) so we were sweating the entire ride, and on the second floor of the bus you could barely hear the tour guide on the microphone, so half the tour group couldn't hear him. The tour guide told us that he couldn't answer questions about anything in Florence. The bus was so hot that we fell asleep before the tour even started. So our first impression was really not great.
    First winery: 4 stars
The first winery was nice! A great tour guide and good wine with snacks in between. The only issue was the small pours and not letting us taste very many wines, and making the nicest wines "for purchase only". I have been on wine tours before, and if our group had been smaller we definitely would have gotten more wine. The balsamic vinegar was INCREDIBLE, and I don't usually like it. The same goes for the prosecco. The nicer Chiantis were much better than the lower tier ones.
    Medieval town: 3.5 stars
They only give you 25 minutes here...and it takes 5 to walk up to it and 5 to walk back only 15 minutes to see this cute town. The little walled town is adorable with really good gelato and we got to see a wedding during our very short visit. Then you get back on the bus with no AC.
    Second winery: 3.5 stars
Beautiful villa with lots of land and incredible views. Flowers and vines and beautiful landscaping. The tour guide lady was very nice and informative. However, the winery had no air conditioning, they were stingy about water, and the pouts were VERY small (even smaller than the first winery). They gave us one piece of bread each with some good olive oil. The wine was cheaper at this winery by a little bit but they only let us try three wines. Not worth the money. We probably didn't even drink a whole glass total. I asked for a bigger pour and she gave me less....

  • This was a nice trip to see the Chianti wine region and learn about Chianti wines, but it could also be improved.
Good things about the trip: Beautiful countryside, wine tasting, and you can buy the wines and have them shipped home at a very little extra cost.
Bad points of the trip: after walking to the train station to meet the tour, we had to walk another long distance to get to the bus the tour started much later than scheduled because the tour guide was not there it was not a small group it was 50 people we rode in a large bus, not a minivan or small touring bus as described many children were on the tour I was expecting an adult thing very little time to enjoy the small medieval town of Monteriggioni and the 2nd winery only gave a small 1 cm cubed piece of bread to go along with the 3 wines we tasted.

  • I gave a 4 because of a problem with bus air conditioning and I was sick for the first 45 min. After that the tour was awesome. Wine was delicious and the tour guide was great.

  • Very fun. Left around 3:00 PM and returned around 8:30 PM. Toured two wineries and had a chance to stop and view a castle. Would recommend if you and #39;re only in Florence for a few days and want to spend an afternoon wine tasting.
