On this tour we will get on the road to the mystic mountain of Montserrat. While being in the car, the guide will tell you some interesting stories about Catalonia, Barcelona and Monserrat. You will get prepared to understand the heritage you will discover during the tour.
The Rocky Massif of Montserrat has been declared as Natural Park in 1987, and characterised by the rounded shape of its peaks. During the tour, you will discover this awe-inspiring natural monument and learn about its importance to the Catalan people. This magnificient 4000-foot wonder is easily recognizable by its ''serrated'' top from which it got his name.

Stop At: Abadia de Montserrat, Montserrat, Catalonia
Once we reach the mountain, you will have the chance to visit the Benedictine Monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat which enjoys a stunning location, surrounded by a scenic natural landscape.
Further, we will continue the tour by wandering through the Monastery surroundings. You will marvel an original landscape formed by vertical rocky ravines, the so-called "Montserrat needles", of magical appearance.
As we will be there in the morning, and if we are lucky, we will also be able to hear the angelic voices of La Escolania de Montserrat, one of the oldest boys' choirs in Europe.

We will discover the Holy Cave where the virgin is said to have appeared. The site has, since then, become an authentic center for pilgrimage and prayer.
On the other hand we will also be able to see the Cross of San Miguel. It is an iron cross that recalls that the Montserrat hills stand on medieval and baroque engravings.

We made this an afternoon tour as we did not want anything in the morning due to jet lag from our long flight which turned out to be the right move. Although we were booked as a semi-private tour we ended up being the only ones. Our guide Reuben was very personable and informative regarding our tour and gave us ample time to look around, take pictures, etc. there were other tourist there but it did not seem crowded. I do not know if it was because it was the afternoon our or not but made it more enjoyable.
