Know More about this tour

Your tour departs from central Barcelona, and from there you'll head for the village of Monistrol de Montserrat. From Monistrol you'll take the Cremallera de Montserrat, a cogwheel train with great views of the countryside and the mountain.

Once at the Montserrat Monastery, taste some local products as a midday snack such as coca de Montserrat (a traditional sweet snack) and a sample of homemade Montserrat liquors. Your guides tells you fun facts about the landmark, inducing its history, legends, and the importance of this site in Catalonia. Enjoy some free time for the chance to walk through the monastery, check out the Montserrat Museum, or visit a couple of viewpoints before going back to the bus.

It is now time for food and wine. Only a short drive away awaits Oller del Mas Cellar, located in a 10th century castle. At this point the group will divide, depending on which food choice you chose. You may opt for eating a multiple-course meal at a local restaurant, or a tapas brunch during the winetasting. Both options will enjoy an extended visit throughout the cellar, located inside the castle. The visit will allow you to discover how wine was made 600 years ago, and how they still make it today.  Be sure to take the opportunity to stroll through the vineyards while enjoying the landscape that surrounds Oller del Mas.

Winetasting will consist of three organic château wines. If you have chosen the tapas option, you will enjoy your brunch during the wine tasting, and for those that have already had lunch, the tasting will be accompanied by a cheese platter. Afterward, you will return to Barcelona.

  • Really great experience. Alex was a fabulous tour guide - great sense of humour, very informative and flexible. He offered us many inside facts about Barcelona and was very informed about the area, the process of making and drinking wine, and Montserrat. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the day and highly recommend this tour.

  • It was an excellent tour!Friendly guides and beautifull nature!!!Ana ,our guide, was cheerfull and helpfull with tips and historical aspects of our tour!!!Winetasting really worthy! It's definitely value for money!!!

  • This was a nice tour and our guide Anges was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Montserrat was beautiful and we got to hear the boys choir and of course tasting wine was relaxing. The tapas were tasty.

  • I wanted to go to Montserrat but after reading about the train/rack rail schedules I wanted an option that handled the logistics for me. Throw in a wine tasting at a 1000 year old castle? Total win. A great guided tour with solo time to explore. They also perfectly worked around my food issues.

  • This was the kind of tour I liked ! Plenty of information and education, and plenty of time to explore on our own. Sites were great, guide was great.

  • What an excellent tour! We met our guide easily and was transported to the area in a very clean and comfortable luxury bus. History of Barcelona was given during the drive to the site. Interesting and engaging guides with great knowledge, history, and delivery. Their conversations were entertaining and informative and not boring typical tour talk that we had experienced on different tours. Xavi , I apologize if the spelling is incorrect, was awesome. Amusing, energetic, intelligent, and humorous for the entire day. Lunch after the day at Montserrat was amazing! Farm to table delicious feast followed by wine tasting in a castle. One of the best tours we have ever taken. Cannot recommend our guide and this tour enough!!! Thanks for a great experience!!!

  • We had a beautiful day. Alex was our guide he did a great job. He was very good about explaining everything we saw. You could certainly see he loved his job. We took the bus from the Hard Rock Café, very easy to find. Look for the pink umbrella! The views were very nice going up the mountain. The monastery and chapel were beautiful. We were treated by a group of people that climb on each other to form pyramids. I understand that is a tradition at festivals and special events. They even had very small children. Very entertaining.
We then went to a small family owned winery where we had lunch. Tapas were served. We enjoyed them all from soup to dessert!! Wine was included, of course. We took a short walk to see the vineyard and where they make and bottle the wine. We had a fun wine tasting with Alex. He was just a wealth of knowledge!! I think we had 10 of us in the group and we had a delightful day. I have mentioned the tour to everyone. It was the highlight of our 4 days in Barcelona! Thank you Alex!

  • The day was lovely!
Very well organized trip on this busy day as it was a Sunday. We had the pleasure of having Lorenzo as our guide, but as we were sharing transportation we got to meet the other guides aswell.
Loved every part of it. Monastery, the lunch at the winery and of course the wine.

  • Agnes, our guide, was a pleasure to be with and also provided a lot of historical information about the Mountains, the monastery, and the region. Her knowledge of wine and the wine making process was great. The wines were quit good as 2re the tapas. Comfortable bus, small group.

  • Wonderful day in Montserrat! The tour was well organized and the guides very efficient! Our guide Jordi was simply amazing! Very pleasant and friendly! This tour immerses you in the history of the monestary whilst allowing you to explore on your own. We opted for the lunch which was delicious and filling! The wine tour provided an excellent onsite into the history of wine making in the region. A special mention to our guide Jordi. He was smiling from start to finish! Always engaging, pleasant and amiable. He took the time to interact with everyone in the group! Definitely a tour that was value for money!
