Know More about this tour

Meet your guide in central Barcelona and board your comfortable minivan for the scenic one-hour drive to Montserrat. From the base of the craggy mountain, you have the option to ride up in a cable car (own expense) for fabulous valley views. Alternatively, stay on board with your guide to drive to the mountaintop by minivan.

At the top of Montserrat, visit the 1,000-year-old Santa Maria de Montserrat Basilica to see its claim to fame: the Virgin of Montserrat. Then tour the Museum of Montserrats collection of religious art, artifacts and sculpture. If you don't want to visit the museum, follow trails that wind around the mountaintop for wonderful views of Catalonia. For equally stunning views you can take a ride around the mountaintop by rack railway (own expense).

Arnold was an amazing tour guide! He made it exciting and very informative. We enjoyed it so much and would definitely do it again. The transportation and time allotment was well organized. Great time!

Nicholas was most passionate and knowledgeable about all things having to do with Montserrat. A touch long, but all very interesting and a beautiful spot.

We bought Montserrat with a Sagrada Familia tour. We choose 3:30pm tickets for Sagrada Familia but when we arrived they said tickets were for 6:30. I showed them my itinerary from A which said 3:30pm but our tickets said 6:30. SO MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR TIME ON YOUR TICKETS, dont go by what A has on your itinerary because they will not let you in early! Messed up our whole afternoon!

This was a great way to see the Montserrat and learn about the monastery and about the city of Barcelona itself. Highly recommended!

I had a great time. Our tour was max 8 people. We met at 8:30. Our tour guide was very good at describing areas of barcelona on the way up to montserrat and he provided a great tour up at the mountain. This is good if you want a bit of time up there to explore but don't need the full day. You have around 1.5hours of free time. It was busy on a saturday.

Highly recommend this tour with Anna, our delightful, knowledgeable and fun guide. We prefer the small group tours which suited Anna’s very social personality to make us feel very welcome and comfortable. The Montserrat is so beautiful and unusual. Our only regret was we didn’t have more time to spend there.

It was an okay trip. Everything went as expected.

Our tour guide, Nicholas, was fantastic....very interesting and knowledgable !!!! Wish we had had an earlier start since the crowds in Montserrat begin to grow as the day progressed. The only disappointment was that he just dropped us off at La Sagrada Familia and we entered with all the other tourists---no such thing as skip the per the lady at the audio desk (which wasn't included to our surprise). Sort of felt alittle taken.

Beautiful trip. We met at Explore Catalunya, near the Palau Musica. Nice small group -- 6 in all. Extremely knowledgeable guide. Friendly, and with a great sense of humor. He was from Ireland but has been in Barcelona for quite some time. I especially appreciated the tips about checking out the library at Montserraat and also the Art Museum there. We had plenty of time to explore on our own.
