Great hike through the forest up to the lavaflow. Tour guide was great. Informative and funny. I nice soak in the hot springs river at the end. A really nice tour.

I would not recommend this trip, as it represents poor value for money. We were picked up from our hotel by two guides, taken to the jungle walk location, then did a short walk with a group of 18, before returning, having lunch, then taking a five minute trip to the thermal river (hot baths). Positives: One of our guides (Sergio) was knowledgable, friendly and engaging. The walk was through nice rainforest. Lunch was reasonable (rice, beans, salad and choice of chicken/pork/fish/veg). But was only served with a plastic spoon! Drop off and pick up at hotel. Negatives: The other tour guide was honestly irritating. He may have been a good companion for a bachelor party, or a more raucous group, but generally he detracted from the experience - sorry! Walk was too short and compared very poorly with a similar tour we did a few days previously. Group size was too large and was too close to another group - this is genuinely annoying as it means you are often quite far from the group leader, and people talk over the guide. Thermal river was largely a waste of time - just get a taxi and take yourself, the ‘tour’ element was nugatory. In short: save your money and find another tour to do. But if you do go, make sure you take flip flops/sandals and a towel for the river!

Fantastic day out visiting the waterfall, volcano and thermal river! Awesome guides Sergio and Hanz were very personable.

Me and friends did the Volcano Tour in the morning departure, our guide was HANZ, just a young mind with a lot of knowledge to share with everyone, he connected with everyone in the group in the best of the ways, he took profesional pictures from all the members in the group, and the control he had over the group was just espectacular, we finish going to the hot river at the end of the tour, such an incredible ending for an amazing day... I will highly recommend to other travellers!!! Thanks for the day!

The hiking tour on the Arenal Volcano was excellent as was the vegan lunch option! The guide, Hanz, was very knowledgeable and friendly, and provided great information about the natural landscape and the wildlife. The hiking route was also adapted for the group so we took a quieter and slightly more challenging route up to the lava rocks which was fantastic! Thanks for a great day

Once out of the concrete jungle of San Jose, my family and I travelled to La Fortuna along the paved highway through the serene Costa Rican countryside. We booked our tour through the concierge at our hostel on our first night in La Fortuna, and the next day, we were on our way to Arenal National Park to check out the volcano and some river hotsprings. The entire experience was fantastic. Our guides, Sergio and David, were friendly and hospitable, which made the tour a great time for my family. What impressed me the most was the passion for their job and the knowledge they possessed of the environment. We saw sloths and a snake--from a safe distance--as we hiked to the volcano. The entire way, Sergio shared his expertise and information about the nature around us and the history of the Arenal area and the volcano. The lunch was what I would consider cosado, the typical lunch eaten by locals. After lunch, we hit the river and lounged in the warm waters for around an hour before heading back to our hostel. All-in-all, a great way to wrap up the tour and our first day in Costa Rica. I would recommend Arenal Jungle Tours to anyone visiting the area.

There seemed to be a lot of waiting on this tour. We asked about a meeting place because we had our own vehicle. We arrived at the meeting time and had to wait 20 minutes to board a bus to go pick up the other guests only to stop back at the meeting place on our way to the hike. We could have saved an hour of our time and met later rather than ride around picking people up. Once at the volcano there was more waiting while they reorganized groups. Though it states max of 20 in your group, they don’t mention they have 3 groups going at the same time. They tried to spread out a bit on the actual hike but therewere plenty of times there were two groups of 20 in the same area trying to see a sloth or something. Then all of the groups are at the lava fields together, as well as arriving at the restrooms/changing area at the same time and lunching together. Again causing a lot of standing around wasting time. Our guide was nice enough and knowledgeable about the volcano and the rainforest, but again with the regrouping and stuff we had a different guide for the second part of the tour. There wasn’t an opportunity to swim in the lagoon but we did go to the hot springs. The lunch was rather bland. The rainforest itself was beautiful and we had a decent view of the volcano. Didn’t get to see the top due to clouds, but it was still quite beautiful. The highlights of the day were seeing a sloth climbing down a tree and a pit viper along the trail.

Great guides great people really reminds you the difference it makes when your guides love their home. Everyone was cool and personable learned so much about the sites I visited and what life was like for the folks who took us around. Highly recommend.
