What a wonderful experience. Right from the moment you get there, you are greeted , and then given tea, and also shown how Moroccan tea is made. Then off onto the spices and foods used in the cooking, and preparing and making a delicious meal. So much fun , and such good value. Really recommend this.
This offering is an easy thumbs-up for me. Fatima and Yusuf were AWESOME and kept us all engaged and entertained. The food was incredible, the setting was great, and the experience was exceptionally well-coordinated. Fatima took us through the market in Marrakech and answered every one of our questions while providing tremendous insight into the use of each item we tried. We capped the evening off with a phenomenal Moroccan meal. Yusuf was our guide during the countryside cooking class, and he could not have been better. He had us laughing the whole time and was patient with our group as we tried to figure out the prep stuff. The meal was top-tier and varied, and we all came away with hugely positive opinions of the experience. Chef Tarik’s offerings should definitely be a part of any trip to Marrakech.
Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting Marrakech! Our chef instructor named Fatima was amazing. The food we cooked was incredible. Awesome how they also included a little tour of the herb garden and other areas of the property.
We had a lot of tajine during our tour of Morocco with our tour group but never knew how to make them. After this cooking class, we feel prepared to try making it at home and have fun with it! This was such an unique and fun cultural experience with wonderful and patient chefs at a beautiful location. The whole experience was interactive, educational and thoroughly enjoyable. We all laughed, joked, marvelled and ate heartily. It was so fun to cook with our tour mates under the good guidance of our chefs and eat our own tajine! Aside from cooking and eating tajine, we also had bread-dips tasting and they were divine. And their garden was beautiful. Thank you so much for this precious experience. I highly recommend going to Atelier de Cuisine Chef Tarik Orty-Ct!!
In a beautiful location that felt like an oasis away from the city, we had a lovely time with these chefs who provided us with a loving spirit of community and a kitchen with everything in place to do only the fun part of cooking. Highly recommend this experience!
An excellent experience! The driver was courteous and friendly and picked us up from the hotel. We met Chef Youssef on arrival, and he introduced us to the making of Moroccan tea, to begin with, accompanied by group sharing. He was extremely well-informed, professional, and friendly and facilitated discussion in our group very well. We then prepared 3 tagines and couscous under his guidance, ate bread with various dips, toured the farm, and ate our prepared lunch and beautifully made desserts. Topped off with some more tea and a ride back to the hotel. Highly recommend this!!
The cooking class with chef Tariq was so much better than other classes I have been a part of. Perhaps it was Tariq herself with her gentle yet professional manner, or other factors. Whatever, everyone enjoyed the experience and came away enthused to cook the dishes at home. The garden with its herbs and other plants was inspiring and we learnt so much about each of them. The day was capped off with the dishes we had cooked and a most delicious dessert which was given to us. We posed with out Certificates and our smiles showed the satisfaction we all felt. Thank you Tariq.
It was so special in every way. Our wonderful hosts at Peacock Pavilions booked the class for our group of 10 and from the very beginning tea ceremony, to the history of the school, to the chopping and cooking the ingredients for a traditional tajine, to the final sharing of the meal, the teachers and staff were excellent. Intelligent, thoughtful, beautiful grounds, and well- thought-out format for the class. We all almost cried at the end we were so moved and happy. Thank you Chef Tarik and staff for the best experience ever - above and beyond!!
We had a Cooking class with Chef Tarik’s school which is far away from the centre of town and the Medina. The whole experience was excellent and fully deserving of 5 stars. Firstly, they picked us up and drove us to the school and called us prior to confirm the pick up time - excellent communication and reliable. Once we arrived we were greeted by our two chefs - Yousef and Fatima. Both these chefs were engaging and knowledgeable and they served us traditional Moroccan mint tea whilst telling us stories of the history of the tea, sugar loaves, tagines and the school itself. We then moved onto the cooking and we made a wide selection of dishes including chicken tagine, lamb tagine, vegetable tagine, two Moroccan salads and Moroccan bread. The direction from Yousef and Fatima was exemplary and they maintained a fun and professional atmosphere. While these were cooking we were shown around the organic gardens and the rest of the school where chef Tarik has brought women from impoverished areas to teach them to cook and make a better future for themselves. We even said yellow to the resident peacock (who made a lot of noise). Next was to sit down to eat and the food was Out. Standing. Really excellent. Fragrant, tasteful, spicy, sweet and all with fresh and healthy ingredients. As there were only two of us in the class, there was far too much food for just us to finish and they gave us extra pots to take the extra home in. Extras: the environment was clean, calm, welcoming and although it was very hot the whole day, they ensured we had more than enough water to keep us hydrated. Our French was not so good but luckily they spoke excellent English. They gave us a certificate of our attendance at the end and we gave them a healthy tip to say thank you. Very richly deserved. Lastly, they followed up afterwards to ask our opinions on course and send the recipients for all the meals by email which we will definitely be trying at home. We would definitely recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn about Moroccan cooking or wants to taste good food and I would definitely do this again in Morocco. We will also be watching Chef Tarik’s videos on YouTube (search for Chef Tarik Harabida) to remind us how to make the food at home.
