Know More about this tour

Take in the views from the distant mountain ranges of the southwest, to the sprawling city of Hobart below, then follow your guide on a downhill descent of the mountain. Watch the alpine terrain gradually being replaced by a magnificent forest and stop on several occasions to take in the varying views and snap a picture or two.

The winding mountain road takes you down to the foothills where you can choose to experience the thrill of the off-road section. Finish the 21 kilometer cycling trip after riding through the outer suburbs of South Hobart and Battery point and complete the journey at Hobart's waterfront.

This Mount wellington cycling tour is fun designed for all levels of fitness!

Off-road Riding:
For the more adventurous amongst the group, there is an opportunity to let loose on approximately 5km of off-road riding. Those not interested in hitting the dirt trails, can happily roll down the hill with the support van behind and meet the group at the resting and snack spot around 20 minutes later. The whole group will then ride together into the city of Hobart. This trail goes via historic Battery point and concludes in Salamanca place on the waterfront of Hobart.

What an excellent tour, run by a friendly, informative and lovely tour guide (not driver).
Great fun way to see the view and conquer the mountain while breathing in the fresh (cool) air on tbe way down.
If you are any level of fitness and can ride a bike, a must do tour while in Hobart.
    Thanks for the memories.

Great way to quickly learn about Hobart, local geology, and natural history from displays atop Mt. Wellington, to see some great views, and to have some fun. The guide was very attentive and well informed.

While it was difficult to stop touring the wonderful city of Hobart, I'm so glad I opted for the bike ride from the top of Mt. Wellington. The pick-up spot was easy to find and, once loaded up, we started the long ride to the top. Commentary from both the driver and guide kept us informed about what we could expect with the bike ride as well as local history/information.
The views at the top are stunning and we had a little time to walk around a bit and take photos and explore. The bike trip was effortless...all downhill except for a few slight uphill spots but never even had to shift gears. The on-road sections were smooth riding but a little unnerving because we shared the curvy road with cars although traffic was light. The off-road section while bumpy, was calmer and slower. We were never pressed to hurry and the guide always reminded us to take it at our own pace. VERY enjoyable experience and I would highly recommend it!

A great way to get to the top of Mt Wellington and ride back down as fast as a car without any effort. A few fire tracks and city street riding to add to the pleasure.

This was a great experience. We were fortunate in that it was perfect cycling weather and there was not one cloud to obscure the views of Hobart and surrounding landscapes from the top of Mt. Wellington.

Great excursion, lots of fun! The only thing I would change is the amount of time you have at the summit. When you get to the summit you have only about 10-15 minutes for a restroom break long lines and to take in the sites. The view from the summit and the scenery warrant more time. I would say 1 hour for site seeing, restroom stop and getting geared up for the ride.

The trip was wonderful - a speedy descent of Mt Wellington - part road, part dirt track top half pretty fast/steep but easily achieved on the well maintained mountain bikes provided by someone with moderate cycling skills. Wonderful views and a great way to understand the layout of Hobart. The leader was a lot of fun and very helpful and knowledgeable.

Of course, I was extremely lucky. We had the most beautiful day imaginable, but I loved the tour. Our tour guide and driver were both friendly and knowledgeable. They met the group right on time at the appointed location and drove us to the top of Mt. Willington. They were very careful with fittings and the equipment was in excellent condition. I can ride a bike, but do not ride regularly. The ride down however was thrilling, but easy and those of us who were slower never felt like we were keeping the group back. They just waited for us periodically. It was impossible to get lost. The scenery was spectacular and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. I even enjoyed the last couple of miles when we had to peddle threw Hobart and along the harbor. I guess I wasn't expecting that. I would recommend it to anyone with a sense of adventure and some bicycle skills.
