Know More about this tour

Mt. Field National Park offers a variety of walks in Tasmanias oldest National Park. Most famous for Russell Falls & the Tall Trees we explore the various walks and regions of this diverse area which is only a 1.5 hr drive from Hobart.

Russell Falls is easily Tasmanias most recognisable waterfall with its 3-tiered drop. It is an easy and enjoyable walk along a beautiful track that takes us to this photogenic waterfall and beyond to Horseshoe Falls. We also make our way along the Tall Trees Track where high above us stand the giant Swamp Gums 80 metres tall. This is a series of short, spectacular walks amongst the cool and quiet rainforest, eucalypts, streams and local wildlife.

Further up into the National Park we join the Pandani Grove Trail which takes us around the alpine Lake Dobson. Soak up the wilderness and surrounding mountain air in this lesser visited region of the park. Lake Dobson is often covered in a layer of ice and surrounded with snow in the winter months just gorgeous! The vegetation dates to Gondwanaland days giving this area an enchanting and ancient feel.

We enjoy a lunch break in one of the numerous beautiful settings at Mt. Field before continuing onwards for the day.

We visit Bonorong Wildlife Park which is home to many of our rescued and well-loved wildlife. Tassie Devils are close up; wallabies are freely hopping around the park and many more of our local favourites are easily discovered here.

To top off this very Tasmanian day we head to the summit of Kunyani/Mt. Wellington (1271m) Hobarts iconic backdrop. The views from the top are breathtaking and the vista is expansive. This is a fantastic way to wrap up a day exploring many of Tassies most unique and noteworthy experiences, rainforests, waterfalls, wildlife and fabulous scenery.

  • A most excellent trip. Tasmania is an amazing place and our Tours Tasmanian guide, David, made sure we had a wonderful experience. We highly recommend this tour for anyone traveling to Tasmania.

  • This is a great tour and after the sanctuary stop you feel you just want be dropped off rather than continue to Mt Wellington, but the trip is well worth it. Gorgeous views from the top of Mt. Wellington. Mt. Field with the beautiful waterfalls and giant gum trees was also an incredible experience. Of course our guide Clint added lots to the experience.

  • The trip was amazing! We saw a lot of interesting and beautiful places. Our guide was a really cool guy with a lot of knowledge. He was really friendly, patient and well explaining. At the Bonorong Wildlife Sancturary we had a quick tour. They told us about their activities, about the animals. We had the opportunity to see tasmanian devil feeding, baby wombats and baby kangaroos. It is an amazing place.
The trip was really great! I recommend it. We had a very good time.

  • AMAZING!!!!!!! A Huge Thanks goes out to the tour guide for making my last tour in Hobart the BEST!!

  • A trip not to be missed, l enjoyed from the moment we were picked up from the hotel. Credit must also goes to Daniel an excellent guide never short of entertaining us with humor and his knowledge and his ability to blend in our fun.

  • It was wonderful trip. The tour guide was a nice person. It was winter, but it was a lovely day and I really enjoed it. Thank you very much.

  • The tour will take you too a local bakery for a quick breakfast (you may also need to buy lunch from here for later). For a short walk, you will see two different falls, amazing tall trees, amazingly rare fungus everywhere ! Kangaroo feeding was interesting ans Mount Wellington was spectacular !

  • Excellent tour. The waterfalls and rain forest were spectacular. The tour guide was very informative and friendly. Had a lovely day with a small group. Pick up was on time. I would recommend Viator and the Mt. Field tour when visiting Tasmania

  • This was an action-packed day, covering considerable ground and encompassing several of the highlights of the environs of Hobart. Our guide, David, was friendly and enthusiastic. He was very knowledgable and experienced and organised the timing of our visits so that we arrived at places ahead of the crowd, which was a great help. Although we packed in a lot, at no time did we feel rushed or hassled.
The highlight for me was the visit to Bonorong where we saw the Tasmanian devils fed, we were given food to feed the kangaroos ourselves and were able to stroke the Koala and wombat - a truly 'hands on' experience. Altogether, it was a very balanced and well planned trip.

  • A very enjoyable and interesting trip
