Know More about this tour

Your day of exploring some of Oregon’s most famous natural attractions starts with hotel pickup in Portland. Then head out of the city to the Historic Columbia River Highway, a National Historic Landmark that stretches east of Portland along the Columbia River and provides views of mountains, rivers, valleys and other scenic sights.

As you relax in your tour vehicle, enjoy the natural beauty while knowing it's just a taste of what's to come, starting with your first stop at the Crown Point Vista House, a stately building from 1916 that boasts some of the best views of the Columbia River Gorge. Then spend the next portion of your day trip visiting four waterfalls: Latourell Falls, Wahkeena Falls, Horsetail Falls and, the most famous, Multnomah Falls.

The second-highest year-round waterfall in the United States, iconic Multnomah Falls is fed by Larch Mountain’s underground springs. With your guide, walk to the much-photographed footbridge to see both tiers of the falls.

Continue east along the highway to Hood River, a quaint valley town located at the confluence of the Columbia and Hood rivers on the Columbia River Gorge. Listen as your guide talks about the town’s environmental and cultural history, and hear about the kiteboarders and windsurfers who skim across the waters of the gorge, one of the county's top stops for these two wind sports.

When you arrive in town, you have free time for lunch on your own. Pick one of the many restaurants to grab a bite, and then peruse the shops and wine-tasting rooms, if you wish (own expense).

Back with your guide, return to your tour vehicle and move south to Timberline Lodge, positioned at an elevation of 11,249 feet (3,429 meters) on Mt Hood, Oregon’s tallest peak. Hop out to tour the lodge or take a short walk around the lodge to enjoy its mountain scenery.

Your day trip ends with the drive back to Portland, returning to the city for hotel drop-off.

  • I had a good time. Enjoyed the tour the guide and fellow travelers.

  • The tour was very informative and the views were spectacular. The tour bus was comfortable and the tour guide made sure we all got to enjoy everything we wanted!

  • We were delighted with the tour. At the Falls the parking was scarce but the tour bus has a special parking place, so we didn't miss any of the falls because of parking. The guide was informative and entertaining. We would have missed so much if we had tried the trip on our own.

  • The Tour was amazing and the Guide was amazing as well and Funny as hell :D. However it was a very bad weather which we couldn't actually see the Mt Hood from anywhere, moreover all roads to Multnomah Falls were closed due the fire that happened earlier the week i took the Trip. People were very nice and friendly. The guide took us to mount hood which was really amazing with all this snow on top of it. Wished it was a clear sunny day but it wasn't. However everything was cool and on time, and we did visited some cool places in Hood River. Spent sometime have our breakfast.

  • Phil was very punctual, friendly, and upbeat. He tried to keep us engaged and made sure we had good times. The weather was perfect and nine of us enjoyed thoroughly. Phil went extra length to drop me of at the airport on our way back to Portland.

I strongly recommend this tour company for out of city trip from Portland.

  • It was an awesome way to see the natural beauty of the area. We did not get to see MT. Hood because of cloud cover and snow! Despite that, we enjoyed other beautiful sights. Sarah, our guide was very knowledgable about the geology and background of the area which enhanced our tour.

  • It was very good. We were able to see the scenic places in Portland. The houses were beautiful and the Washington park was really amazing. The rose garden was awesome. The lady guide was informative.

  • Our tour guide, Becky, was excited, energetic, loved telling us about the beautiful area. Due to the fires, we were unable to see Multnomah Falls however, she provided an excellent tour with modifications to our itinerary. Another bonus, we were the only 2 on the tour, so it was a private tour -- and Viator didn't cancel. A truly amazing day! Would highly recommend!

  • Everything turn as planned except we missed to see the Multnomah fall because it was closed due to recent fire. Our tour guide was Karen .

  • I had hoped that we would be able to visit more and stay longer. A lot of driving and not long enough to enjoy the day.
