Departure in the morning by private bus. The first stop will be in Pompeii, the city is part of the National Park of Mount Vesuvio and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. Please note: entrance fees are not included in the purchase of this tour; only transportation and your guide. Entrance fees are separate and payable when you arrive at the locations.

Following the eruption of the Volcano Vesuvio in the year 79 A.D., it was buried under meters of ash and lapilli for years. Our expert guide will reconstruct the tragic moments that preceded the explosion and he will bring back to life the magnificent history of the prosperous Romans.

The area had a complex water system, an amphitheatre, gymnasium, baths and a substantial population, which grew prosperous from the region's renowned agricultural fertility. Thanks to the flood of lava that petrified the city, the infrastructures are all well preserved so it is still possible to admire the wonderful frescoes which adorned the walls and floors of the Villas, the rest of the Roman art, the Baths and Forums built in the year 80 B.C. Have a glimpse of everyday Roman life!
In the second part of the tour you will have the chance to climb till the top of one of the most imposing volcano of south Italy: Vesuvius. The bus and the guide will bring you until 1.000 mt. high and from here you could reach the crater’s edge on foot or just relax admiring the panorama. From the top of the cone, during the days of good visibility the view is breathtaking, and it is possible to see from another prospective, the archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Return to the hotel in the afternoon.

  • Great experience. Would advise that if you want to get to the top of Vesuvius, you need to be prepared for one heck of an uphill hike, with limited time to do it. Other than that, Pompeii was amazing, our tour guide was outstanding.

  • Our guide for Pompeii was Fabio, and he was a font of knowledge - his enthusiasm for the site really shone through. He was able to really bring the ruins to life, and gave us a glimpse into the daily workings of the city. The pace of the tour was perfect - not too fast, but we were not hanging around either. The ruins themselves are amazing, but the help of an experienced guide really made a difference by making this a very enjoyable day.

  • great tour, wonderful guide

  • Our guide, Fabrizio, was excellent. He was informative, entertaining and patient with all the tour guests. The bus driver was on time and a good driver considering all the twists and turns of the road.

  • The Pompeii experience was great. It was very crowded on the day we went so we appreciated having a guide who could take us to places to avoid the worst of the crowds. Vesuvius was worth doing but don't expect a very active volcano. It was again quite crowded and full of souvenir stalls.

  • Punctual pick up at our hotel followed by a drive in heavy traffic towards Naples. The guide was interesting and knowledgable, we had time to look around the souvenir stalls while she collected our tickets. Pompeii was an incredible experience although very busy with other visitors we had a real feeling of what life was like at the time. A value lunch at a nearby restaurant gave us time meet others on the trip then on to Vesuvius where a gradual sloping walk of about 300m took us to the top where we could look down into the volcano or take in the amazing views over the Bay of Naples. All in all a fantastic day out.

  • My husband and I have just returned from Sorrento we booked with Viator for the Mt Vesuvius and Ponpeii tour and Christine was our guide for the day she was great very knowlegable and very passionate for the history of Pompeii and Vesuvius. We were picked up
from our hotel at 8.00 and returned at 6.45 so along day but it was worth it. We were given radio transmittion deviies so you never missed any thing. She also saved us time queing she got all our tickets and we paid latter on the bus.The very top of Vesuvius was unguided and was free to make your own way but the views were amazing. The tour was very informative and well organised. I would highly recomend this spendid tour with a life time of memories

  • A fantastic day. Pick up on time from the hotel. The guidè was extremeky knowledgable and took us to the key places in Pompeii... you couod spend all day there and miss things. Vesuvius was stunning.. a bit of a hike to the top but well worth it.

  • Fabrezio was our tour guide and he was amazing! He was very knowledgeable, energetic and entertaining. The day moved smoothly from our trip to Vesuvius, lunch and then Pompeii. I do think that people should be aware that it is quite physically demanding to walk to the top of Vesuvius and back in the allotted time. One couple took longer than they should have which delayed the tour for 26 minutes past our departure time. Not Fabrezio's fault. Pompeii is fascinating and would not have been as interesting without Fabrezio's insightful stories. All in all a great and memorable day.

  • We were picked up from our hotel exactly on time and were introduced to both the driver and our guide Fabrinzio ... what a great guide he was ... very enthusiastic and clear about how the day would run ... he suggested we visit Versuveus first in the hope that we would miss the crowds in Pompeii and he was spot on. It was a pleasant climb up to the top of Versuveus and the views were magnificent... not a cloud in the sky and you could see for miles. We moved on to Pompeii and had lunch in the Tiberius restaurant ... a drink... choice of main dish from salad to pizza or lasagne all huge portions and then a dessert to follow all for 14. Excellent. Pompeii was very interesting and as the crowds had all left it was a steady well informed visit with time to take plenty of photos. Fabrinizio or Fab as he likes to be called was a real delight to have as a guide his enthusiasm for the history surrounding Pompeii kept everyone enthralled and entertained. We would certainly recommend this visit especially if your guide is as good as Fabrinzio.
