We made a stop here in Argostoli from our cruise and did the tour with Avalon group. Plain and simple it would be average overall 3 stars. What gives it the boost to 4 stars was our tour guide SANDRO, young kid who was very funny and knowledgeable about his home. Mytros Beach was beautiful, but a pebble beach so bring your water shoes. There's also only one bar there so it's a very long line if you want snacks and drinks. The water is very beautiful though. The trip to get from the agency to the beach was long and hot due to a/c not being the greatest, and the road is winding, but we did have an excellent driver Giorgio. Melissani lake although short lived, is definitely worth it, incredibly beautiful and must see for pictures. If I could change my tour I would do the Melissani lake and Drogarati Cave instead- they were the same price as going to the beach 80 euros for two people definitely great prices as opposed to on the ship excursion which is probably about 140 euros for 2 people. Thanks again Sandro!

Unbedingt ansehen!

Myrtos Beach was one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen! If you’re going to Argostoli, this is a must go to place. While the tour of Melissani Lake was much shorter than I expected (just a few minutes in the cave) it was such a beautiful place, I would definitely recommend seeing it.

Worthgettin there early and beat the coach tours. Take a taxi and queue inside in the cool tunnel. Not in the heat and fumes in car park. Some litter in car park. Nice to walk on the coast.

We came off our cruise ship late morning expecting to just stay in Argostoli and we were given a flyer by a lovely girl from the agency. No hassle and said if interested to just pop over and see them. We had a look over the tours and went over to ask more information. We were greeted by Mark who is from the UK and now works there. He was brilliant. Explained the 2 tours that were left what we would see etc. I knew I wanted to go and see the lake so we did just that. €35 each for a 4 hour tour... Much cheaper than the $67pp our cruise company were offering for the same tour! The drive in a comfortable air conditioned mini bus was lovely and we saw beautiful scenery and views and our guide Maria explained what we were seeing along the way. Queue for the lake was around 40 mins which was fine and no bother as it went quickly and Maria stayed with us throughout pointing out where to get water and the toilets. She was lovely. We stopped at Myrtos beach view point which was lovely but my only wish is we could have had a bit longer than 5 mins to really take in the most amazing views! Please extend the time for future guests please as it was beautiful!! Our driver dropped us off by town so we could walk back to the ship stopping off at shops on the way which was nice and no bother at all. If we had known this place was here I'd have got off the ship earlier and done the island tour with them as there is so much more to see! But if you don't have long and visiting on a cruise I recommend them 100%. They are 5 mins from the port and Mark was brilliant considering he moved there after falling in love with the island so he knows what he is talking about. I'm a travel agent and thoroughly enjoyed it and came back thankful we did a trip with them. Thank you Mark and Maria at Avalon!

Our family of four did a private tour with Avalon back in August, but, I'm just getting the chance to write the review now. Sadly, Kefalonia was only a six hour stop on our cruise itenerary, but, we made the best of it. We started communicating with Mark Fowler a few months prior and he was quick to answer our emails and very informative. We chose to have a private tour for our group of 8, in a 12 passenger air conditioned minibus. The driver was very good, very friendly, and very safe on Kefalonia's windy roads. After the pick-up from the port, he tried to get us to Melissani Lake as quickly as he could to beat the hordes of tour buses (but even so, we still waited an hour, but, when we left after our boat ride, the line looked as if it had grown to 2 hours). The driver then took us over to Myrtos beach where we got to spend just under 2 hours. Myrtos Beach was amazing. We kind of wished that we had skipped the lake and just spent the entire time there. We learned for next time!

  • 19-Aug-2019

The tour guide was lovely and not their fault that the line for Melissani Lake Tour was 1.5hrs. This meant we didn’t even go to Myrtos beach- the first thing in the title of the tour. They gave us 5€ back for it which seemed silly considering the tour was 35€. I guess there’s no guarantee you’ll actually do what the tour promises.

Domattina ripartiamo Molto Delusi!
