Know More about this tour

The day begins when it is still dark (about 4am – 5am depends on season) as a private vehicle leaves the hotel in Kathmandu and makes its way toward Nagarkot Hill about 42Km drive to watch one of the finest sunrises over the mighty Himalayas. On a clear day, you can see the ranges of Gosainkunda, Ganesh Himal, Mt. Manaslu and the Annapurna Mountains. The sun's rays first begin to light up the sky, turning the snowcapped peaks from grey to pink before the rising sun turns the snow a most brilliant white. The scene is absolutely breathtaking.

Enjoy then a hearty breakfast about 7am at one of the many fine restaurants at Nagarkot (breakfast not included in price of tour). About 8am the guide will lead you after breakfast on the trail toward Changu Narayan. This trail passes through Brahmin and Tamang villages. Watch the people as they farm the terraced farms that hang on the sides of the hill overlooking the Kathmandu Valley. On clear days, there are great views of the Himalayas along this trail.

The trek is about 3 to 4 hours to the smallest and least visited of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Changu Narayan. Here discover a wonderful little Newari village where they still do wood and stone carvings like they have done over the centuries.

Changu Narayan, because of its location receives the least amount of visitors of the World Heritage Sites, yet is a real gem. The oldest temple in the valley is atop the hill in the village.

There is an opportunity to experience Newari food for lunch in Changu Narayan (not included in price of tour). The people of the village are very friendly and accommodating, demonstrating true Newari hospitality.

The return trip to Kathmandu about 1pm is by private vehicle that goes straight back to the hotel. The day trip concludes here and enjoys your hiking trip with us!

  • Tour was great. Driver was very capable. Guide was courteous and spoke good English. Well worth the money and time.

  • Very interesting walk through the small villages - fascinating to see how people live in the country side. Lots of wildlife too - especially exotic birds. Unfortunately it was misty on the day so no views of the mountains - but still very enjoyable.

  • The sunrise spot was lovely, but the weather was a bit too foggy to see anything. The day hiking in the valley was wonderful and i would recommend it. We were able to walk through local villages and see some wonderful views

  • A perfect day. Relaxed and informative - it was so good to meet local people whilst on our walk. Our guide was excellent as was our driver. We were picked up on time and looked after well. Thank you both!

  • Very nice people, but the tour should not be offered during Monsoon season, to be fair, we were stupid to go on it as well. A very early start and a long drive for a view of dense cloud. The walk back down the hill was quite interesting but certainly not worth the price. Our guide and driver were pleasant people.

  • Woke up at 03:30 for the Nagarkot sunrise, but couldn't see it. It was extremely foggy! The trek down was nice though.

  • We were picked up from our hotel at 4:15 AM and the road going up to Nagarkot was very bad. By the time we got to our destination it was daylight and the sky was cloudy. Hence, we didn't see the sunrise. Club Himalaya, the resort hotel we visited was very nice and we took some good pictures. After the breakfast buffet not included in the tour fee we started our hike downhill on a trail passing through village houses. There were some garbage on certain parts of the route and the scenic spots were mostly towards the end. The tour guide Hari was helpful and nice. Since it was election day we had to walk farther to reach our car because the police blocked a portion of the road. It's good we were able to hitch in a car driven by an election staff.

  • The experience of the sunrise at Nagarkot was great. The sunrise at the top of the mountain with the views of the Himalayas was beautiful and very enjoyable. After this wonderful experience we began the trekking side of the tour. Our tour guide Jasmine was very good and very nice with us and we had plenty of chatting during the experience. The walk from Nagarkot downwards is very easy and non demanding. The guide adapted to ourwalking pace and provided us with plenty of information. The walk includes passing by little villages and terraces with the Himalayas in the background as well as a couple of very interesting and recommendable temples. If we were to return to Nepal we would definitely do this type of tour again.

  • A nice and relaxing tour, a great break from Kathmandu. The tour starts with visiting Club Himalaya to watch sunrise from the terrace while sipping coffee. Unfortunately, it was not clear and we couldn't see the mountains, but the view was still very beautiful and the birds made up with the sound effects. Our tour guide Madan was very respectful and patient, he provided insightful tips when needed and gave us privacy throughout most of the hike. The hike ended at the Changunarayan temple.

The vehicle was a little older than on other tours that we have taken, but was very clean. Just make sure you take a mask to protect yourself from the dusty roads.

  • Being short for time on our 3 day whistle stop tour of Nepal we decided to book this tour to give us a taste of the Nepali Mountains and hiking.
The tour did not disappoint. We were collected early morning and driven to watch the beautiful sunrise over the mountains. The driver got us there early so we managed to get a fantastic spot.
We then had a delicious traditional breakfast in one of the mountain villages before heading off down the hill on our Trek. Our gide Hari was fantastic and very patient. This trip really shows you what rural Nepali living is like, you also get to visit some amazing temples and the views are unbelievable. Highly Recommend.
