Know More about this tour

Meet your guide in the morning near Castel Nuovo, an imposing fortress and former royal residence that is known locally as the Maschio Angioino. Then, together with your guide and small group, take a walk into the heart of historical Naples to experience the city’s unique street food.
As you wander, hear stories about Naples' history and its renowned cuisine, and look out for local landmarks including the grand Teatro di San Carlo, Europe’s longest running opera house. Make your first stop in a cafe opposite the opera, where you'll take part in a Neapolitan morning tradition and drink a short and strong Italian espresso.

Move on to the expansive Piazza del Plebiscito and cast your eyes upon the collection of impressive monuments that surround it, including the striking and enormous façade of the Royal Palace of Naples. Enter the nearby Galleria Umberto I, a stunning 19th-century shopping mall with a beautiful glass roof and mosaic floor. While in here, munch on a sweet treat — a fresh and hot sfogliatella pastry made with delicious layers of soft, flaky dough.

Wipe away any remaining crumbs and continue on to a nearby food market. Be introduced to an array of local specialties and browse the fresh produce at the greengrocer and fish stands. Taste another street food snack, which changes depending on season and availability, but may include 'o pére e ‘o musso (cold meat with salt and lemon) or a pizzette (small pizza).

After leaving the market, cut down Spaccanapoli, a straight narrow street that bisects Naples Old Town. The tour ends at the centrally-located Piazza Dante. Before you part ways with your guide, take recommendations on the best pizzerias and restaurants, where you can indulge in even more delicious Neapolitan cuisine.

  • Our cruise ship docked in Naples for the day didn't want to take one of the ships large rushed bus tours found this food tour and thought we'd give it a try. So what could possibly go wrong? Nothing ... it was amazing!!! Giuseppee Joe led our small group only 2 couples on a 3 hour, easy walking tour which covered Neapolitan food, Neapolitan history, and anything you wanted to ask him. It also covered eating food and more food and more. Anyone and everyone would like this tour. Your loss if you don't try it.

  • My husband, mother-in-law, and I took this tour recently and enjoyed it very much. Our cruise ship docked in Naples for the day and we were seeking something different than the planned excursions our cruise offered us. This definitely fit the bill! Our tour guide Giuseppe was very informative, friendly and fun to walk and talk with while we ate our way through town. As Americans, we felt very comfortable and would recommend this to others. Just as a warning, we got very full and couldn't finish everything offered to us. So, pace yourself. :

  • This was a fantastic way to spend 3 hours. We ate so much good food and experienced so many great areas of Naples. Our guide was very informative of the history of the city. I would highly recommend this tour!

  • My husband and I enjoyed this tour very much. The only problems were the time and amount of food! Our tour guide was very personable and knowledgeable. He did, however spend far too much time in the beginning talking about how the coffee was made. I appreciated the information about the technique and water, but it could have been done in a much shorter time. We then felt quite rushed to drink it and that continued down the line. He also seemed to think we had more time because before the three hour point, another couple told him we needed to board the ship by 3:30 and he was shocked. The last two stops were to be pizza and gelato and we ended up skipping the pizza. I was very disappointed as pizza was invented there and I wanted to try it. Partly I will admit was due to everyone being so full, but I would've had a small amount. I think it would be very helpful if the stops were told to guests at the beginning so we could pick and choose. The other couple shared the first pastry which was smart and all of us would've skipped the meat and later fish stop to save room for pizza. Other than that, it was fabulous food as only the Italians can and an enjoyable tour of the city from a native.

  • Great walk a great way to see Naples just don't eat breakfast first

  • We loved the tour so much, our guide Giuseppe was a really nice guy, a great guide and had excellent taste in food. Enjoyed everything we ate and learned so much about Naples! Highly recommended!

  • This was ok but he was too interested in telling us all about the history than about food which is what the tour was about. It was an hour before we even had a coffee! It was a very hot day so that possibly didn't help and the gelato at the end was amazing.

  • This wonderful tour is a must while in Naples. Giuseppe is a wealth of really interesting information both about the history of the city and about the food. His English is excellent and he has a great sense of humour. Normally I am not an organized tour person but I couldn't recommend this one more highly. It felt more like a stroll around the city with a knowledgeable friend. The food tour was a highlight of our trip in Italy. Grazie mille!

  • The guide was nice but it wasn't really a food tour. There was lot of history about the city of Naples which we were not very interested in having been to Naples before. It became very monotonous. A bit of history would be ok but we booked a food tour and this did not seem to be the main focus. It was 4 hours walking and not once did we get to sit down and refresh or have a toilet break. The tour needs to be rethought and go to some nice deli's etc.

  • A really excellent tour with a knowledgeable guide. We not only got a historical perspective of the city but also how the local cuisine had evolved and how the poorer areas had created the most amazing street food.
We sampled lots of these foods and were amazed by the variety and sheer amount not only in quantity but the choice!
From the most delectable pastries and coffee, local delicacies based on less expensive meats, deep fried pizza, local fresh seafood at the fish market and of course gelato ....
    Highly recommended experience.
