A very novel experience and one to remember. Our tour guide was Jenelle, who arrived on time and made us feel comfortable. As she drove around, she explained about the history and culture of the island. She drove us through a narrow drive towards the Asa Wright Bird Sanctuary. It was a beautiful scenic drive up through and towards the rainforest. We came up to the plantation house with a beautiful open verandah with the northern Mountain range in view. The most amazing part was to see so many species of birds, mostly humming birds! It was a good experience to walk through the rainforest with a nature guide Barry, who explained how the plants grew in rain forests, the birds and their habits and also spotted and agoutis. Janelle also took a personal tour with us explaining the flora and fauna of the rainforest, sharing her knowledge with us! An incredible experience! She also shared what local food was available and showed the local market in Arima. Thanks to Jenelle for making our trip so enjoyable!
