Know More about this tour

Drive-out approximately 30 miles (48 km) to the embarkation point of your airboat from your New Orleans hotel. Depending on the option you selected, board a large airboat holding 15 to 25 passengers or a small airboat limited to six to eight passengers for a more intimate, personalized experience.

Set out on a 20,000-acre (8,095-hectare) tract of tidewater cypress swamp close to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Your flat-bottomed airboat is powered by an aircraft propeller to allow a fast, fluid trip through the shallow marshes. Feel the wind on your face as you zip into bayous lined with mossy cypress and tupelo-gum trees and your pilot points out a stunning variety of wildlife.

Prepare to see plenty of alligators in the warmer months (and warmer days in winter), some of which may be out sunning themselves on rocks! Your guide may even feed the gators, affording you amazing photo opportunities. Also keep your eyes open for turtles, snakes, egrets, herons and ibis. You may even catch sight of a hawk, owl or bald eagle. In the cooler months, look for white-tailed deer, raccoons and the large rodents known as nutria.

Your morning or afternoon airboat tour ends at the embarkation point. Be sure to check out the indoor exhibits of alligators — including an albino alligator — before making your way back to downtown New Orleans on your own.

Note: This tour does not include hotel pick-up or drop-off unless hotel pickup and drop-off is selected at checkout. If you have selected hotel pickup and drop-off please specify your hotel details in the 'special requirements' field at the time of checkout or advise the local operator directly after booking.

  • We had a great time and saw lots of alligators. Our guide knew what he was doing he even avoided the rain for most of the tour. It did catch us on the way back and we got completely soaked, but we enjoyed the trip anyway.

  • Great trip. Guide was very friendly and provided plenty of swamp information.

  • The actual tour with our tour guild Earl was fabulous. The reservations were a nightmare. I made the reservation in August. The day before our tour I called to see how we were to get out to the tour. I spoke with Ashely who told I could not take Lift and Uber and they would pick us up. 9 am the next morning. Standing in front if our hotel no ride showed up I called and Ashely had forgotten to put us down for pick up. They had to change our tour time. We finally arrive at 3:30 p.m. And EJ at the tour gave us 6 tickets instead of 8. He refused to stop and help with the mix up. I had to call the tour, they called himwho was standing on to opposite side if the counter and have him recheck the booking reservation. He picked the wrong name, gave me our tickets but did not apologize for his error.

  • Great tour, amazing guides

  • We loved this tour! The guide was knowlable and entertaining and the air boat ride itself was a wild fun ride.

  • What a delightful experience. The weather was perfect. Our airboat guide was funny and full of history about the area. We had a great time.

  • This was so much fun – my kids loved it. Recommend the small boat over the larger group boat. So much to see and so beautiful.! It was worth the drive from the French quarter.

  • We took our 12 year old grandson on this trip and we all loved it. Captain Steve did a fantastic job of finding crocs and getting us close enough for some face to face meetings. The trip through the canals was very scenic and we learned a lot. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone,.

  • The whole thing was just great! Maybe it was also because of the guide we got on a small airboat who was really into his job. We had a great time, saw the swamps and bayous of the south, met a looot of alligators we hadn't expected to see so many, we also seen some racoons and alligator which was trying to get them and our guide saving them : I really recommend the whole thing and go for a smaller airboat! It is worth it!

  • My family and I enjoyed the tour. The tour guide was funny and made it enjoyable.
