Know More about this tour

After pickup from your downtown or French quarter hotel by air-conditioned van, your architecture tour begins in the French quarter, where you'll learn about the history and design styles of the old Creole city of New orleans. See the Pontalba Buildings of Jackson square, admire St Louis Cathedral and enjoy a view of the Mississippi river. Along Esplanade Avenue, you'll pass by the French market, the old US Mint and some elegant mansions.

Next, hop off your van and stretch your legs at the historic St Louis Cemetery #3. During a guided walking tour, see some of its many societal tombs, such as the Hellenic Orthodox community and the Dante Lodge of Masons, which represent the varied backgrounds of New orleans' former residents.

Back on your van, travel along peaceful Bayou St John, where youll see houses from the late 1700s. Stop for refreshments and rest rooms after a drive through City Park, home to the Carousel gardens amusement park and centuries-old live oaks.

You will then reachthe 17th St.Canal and see the flood wall breaches and witness the complete destruction Hurricane Katrina caused to the neighborhood of Lakeview as well as the hopeful rebuilding done with the help of private enterprise as well as the new pumping stations.

Make your way along Lake pontchartrain's shores, where youll learn about the levee system and see one of the longest causeway bridges in the world, and then arrive at your final stop the Longue Vue House and Gardens. Peer through the window of time during a guided tour that reveals 20 rooms of antiques, specialty collections and art -- all nestled amid 8 acres (3 hectares) of regal gardens.

On the drive back to your hotel, youll pass through Uptown and along St Charles Avenue, where the grand colonial mansions of the Garden District are some of the most beautiful in all the South.

Well done! It was a great opportunity to see all of New Orleans and not just get stuck in the French or Garden Quarters. Our guides were very knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting highlights of the city's history.

Totally enjoyed the Longue Vue tour and the cemetery tour where we could get out of the van. It was a tour by van mostly. I would recommend it but be advised that its mostly looking out of your van window.

Good tour. The only drawback is driving in New Orleans traffic.

Yet another hit in the tour catalogue. Ellen gave us the grand tour of New Orleans. It was way more than what we expected and we were very pleased with the whole thing. She was very informative, cordial and the pacing of the tour was just right. We were glad this was our first tour of the city as it really gave us a handle on the city layout, it's history and some very interesting sites.

The tour was nice; enjoyed the stop at Longue Vue House and Gardens. However, I think the price was a bit expensive for what was included in the tour. Didn't go in- depth about the architecture.
