We had to wait for 4th bus, it was very crowded. Everyone wants to sit on top. We finally just decided to sit inside. But there was no air conditioning, it was stifling. After a few people got off we were able to go up top. Unfortunately it was super hot up there! the bus crawls along due to congested streets. An expensive mistake, we got off at battery park. Cost us $116 to go a few miles! Not worth it.
My wife and I were, shall we say 'strongly encouraged', by one of a staggering number of Top View street based sales people to book their Hop On Hop Off bus and really wish we'd read the negative views before succumbing to the pressure. We paid a significant amount for a two day pass and the Island Cruise and really got nowhere near our monies worth on either the bus or the cruise. In truth, the bus isn't anywhere near every ten minutes and when it does turn up it's nearly always full. Furthermore, the traffic snarl up all across New York City means you really get nowhere fast. It does have some pluses but really there is more minuses and it makes it an expensive waste of time. I could say more about the bus and the cruise but I'll finish by just saying it isn't recommended by me.
The staff at stop 18 who assisted with loading were very helpful and polite! We would have appreciated better signage along the route as we couldn’t find a sign for where to catch the bus on our way back.
Awful. The audio ‘tour’ only spoke four times during the whole downtown tour. One of these was simply to tell us we were at Stop 7- they didn’t even bother saying what Stop 7 was- if you didn’t have a map you wouldn’t know. They pointed out Macy’s and Madison Square Garden once the bus was out of sight of both attractions! They advertise a tour of film and TV locations on channel 13 but only once mention where a movie was filmed. We couldn’t even get on the uptown ‘hop on hop off all day tour’ because we were told at 1635 that the last uptown tour bus had left at 1630 despite the ticket being valid until 3am! They then refused any refund despite only having half the tour and a mis-sold and misrepresented audio tour. It’s a pleasant enough trip but overpriced because you don’t get the service you’re paying for. Don’t book with these- try another company.
The driver never turned on the audio tour, so basically I spent $59 each, plus fees, for a silent drive around Central Park. Then, on the way down the stairs from the upper level, my son cut his leg on some random piece of metal that was sticking out of the stairwell and was in pain for the rest of our trip. Do not recommend.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💐💐💐💐 Shopping Sightseeingtour chinatown Soho ground zero Little italy good stuff good people
I selected the Uptown tour but really, I didn’t do it as you could not board the bus. Line up around the bend and the bus is every hour, contrary to what the seller stated. Bus arrive with only a few seats and another hour to wait. Spoke to the supervisor who was rude and condescending claiming it is clear on the website that the bus is every hour. Seemed unable to grasp that we had been waiting for an hour and another hour would make two. Despicable display by him and really unacceptable. Never got the tour even though we paid for it. Do not waste your money on Topview tours as the only sight you’ll see it the topview of peoples’ heads in the line ahead of you.
Shockingly bad. A con. This company has dozens of reps on the street, selling hard. We paid nearly 300 dollars for our family, having been assured that the buses were frequent and that we would have no problem getting a seat on the top deck. This was an outright lie. We walked to the first stop, and found a queue of more than 50 people. The Uptown bus , we were then told, only went once an hour. The lady at the head of the queue had been waiting 2 hours. The operatives were rude, unhelpful and obviously used to being the subject of much ire from the many furious customers who had been tricked into buying tickets. We eventually realised that there was no way we were going to get on a bus that way in the foreseeable future, so decided to walk half way round the tour and attempt pick up a bus elsewhere. When we did finally get on, about 2 hours later, the bus took about 30 minutes to drive 4 blocks. As it then started to rain, we got off, noting on our way out how appalling the downstairs seating was. Stuffy, dark and with practically no visibility. We are now going to attempt to get a refund on the grounds of Top View’s sales person giving us incorrect information. Watch this space.
Long queues. Be prepared to wait. The touts are relentless until the point of buying your ticket. Downtown was great to see Soho, Washington Square, etc and just about to do uptown now!
