Overview

You and no more than five others will explore the local foods and entertainment districts of Kyoto on a not-so-standard, all-inclusive walking and eating nighttime tour! You'll mingle with locals, eat regional specialties at two different standing bar restaurants (though we often sit down at one or both), and be given a visual feast of a primer on the various nightlife scenes in Kyoto, from geiko (a.k.a. "geisha") on down. With a native or equivalent English speaking guide at your side, you'll get a clear understanding of what the area is all about. And with some great food and a couple of (included) drinks in you, the merriment will be all the more!

Our tours are very small group (6 or less), which means much more attention and quality for you. Local insight, great food, and good times await.

For those interested in trying some Kobe beef, be sure to choose the option which includes 100g (about 3.5 oz.) of prime Kobe area beef. It's reasonably priced, too!

Kevin took us to to small bars/restaurants on tiny side streets that we would have never found on our own. It was great to be shown around at night.

This was just a badly planned experience. The whole tour takes you to standing up restaurants and bars, which is nonsense for tourist that had been walking the whole day. In addition, we ordered the kobe beef upgrade and we got wagyu instead. Do not recommend this tour.

Fun tour experiencing a variety of Japanese food styles while touring interesting spots. One suggestion we made to our tour guide, Brian, was that they should choose one sit down eating spot rather than all stand-up locations - especially after a day of touring, or a day of travel. Otherwise, it was great!

I absolutely recommend this tour! My guide Mardi is clearly very sharp and knowledgeable about the history and culture of Japan. It was really great to have a guide who is truly fluent in English to answer my numerous questions. I really enjoyed eating like a local and seeing an authentic side of Kyoto. I booked the tour as a solo traveler, but never felt awkward or out of my element. I had a great time and felt right at home.

I loved the tour I could ask all the questions I’ve been shy to ask about Japan so far. The guide, Mardi had very good knowledge of Japanese culture and history and knew Kyoto very well. She easily adjusted the tour style to fit what I was looking for and recommended some nice sake and sweets to take home. The conversation felt natural as well and I genuinely had a great time which is very important as a solo traveler and worth all the money. I definitely both tried foods and drinks I’d have never ordered and also walked to places I wouldn’t know to visit. Highly recommend the tour and Mardi. The food was genuinely amazing

The tour of Gion was great. I was in Japan on business and was able to take a night to see some of the sights with my helpful guide Mardi. She has extensive knowledge of the history of Kyoto and Gion, and we explored the district on foot. She took me to some cool places and we tried food I would never have thought to order. We had fun, good food, met some interesting locals, and took some really cool pictures. It was nice to see the usually bustling area in the evening when things were calmer. I had such a good time and a night free in Tokyo so I reached out directly to Pinpoint directly and Kevin helped me book another great tour.

Mardi was a great guide! She is a native English speaker and was able to answer all of our questions and much more! The food was great. We tried lots of things we never would have known to order on our own.

Wonderful Night time tour through the streets of Kyoto that was equal parts informative and funny. So many great historical, cultural, religious and political insights accompanied with some excellent food stops! Definitely worth booking, particularly if it is your first time in Kyoto like it was ours
