Overview

Head into the North York Moors National Park where you will explore the beautiful landscapes and historical sites.

The first stop of the tour is Pickering, a ancient market-town on the border of the North York Moors national park. From Pickering we travel into the national park itself, famed for the stunning views of heather moorland which, on a clear day, can extend for 50 miles in every direction. We stop next in Goathland, famous for its role in the TV series Heartbeat. You will have a brief stop where you can see Goathland Station, featured in the world renowned Harry Potter movies as Hogsmead.

Next we arrive in Whitby for lunch, a traditional seaside town, where there is a wide choice of places to eat with fish and chips being the local favourite. After our lunch stop it is time to travel through the heart of the moors, following roads through the stunning expanse of heather moorland.

We will then make our way back towards York whilst enjoying the views over the Vale of York.

We enjoyed seeing the two majestic abbey ruins and the English scenery. Matt was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot of history to better appreciate the architecture and towns. We ate at Abbey Wharf in Whitby which I recommend. So happy to have wonderful fall weather for a great day!

I’ve just got back from this tour.. driven by Trevor. It was beyond good. He’s informative, interesting.. we covered a fair amount of ground.. ranging from Byland Abbey, Whitby, Goathland.. just a small friendly group.. lots of stops.. real value fir money as we left at 9.15 am and didn’t return till 5.45.. I’ve also done the Dales tour of theirs.. which I just loved. I see both tours as huge treats.. and I’ll be doing bath again..

Had a wonderful day trip with Lee, we took in Helmsley, Whitby, Goathland and Pickering, Lee gave us such interesting facts along the joinery, there were plenty of stops to take full advantage of the beautiful country side to take photos, fabulous fish and chips in Whitby at Trenchers. We were able to stop at Goathland to view the steam trains pulling out of the station and also fans of Heartbeat were able to visit Scripps Garage, a very enjoyable time was had by all. Thank you to Lee for an excellent job.

We booked and went on this tour recently, and I'd give it a 4* as we didn't thoroughly enjoy this tour as much as we wanted to. Our expectations were somewhat high, but it just fell a little flat, unfortunately. The driver was Trevor, and he was very knowledgeable in telling us some history and about the sites we visited. The day was nice and hot and the stops where we were allowed to get off and spend time was good. There were a couple of stops which were not really interesting, but I guess it is also for the driver to get a pit stop too. But it was fine. We visited beautiful Abbeys and little villages and spent a good 90 mins in Whitby. It is still a good tour and I think other people would enjoy it.

Our group of 7 thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Exceeded all expectations. It was wonderful to get out and see the countryside and villages. There were just enough photo ops, and coffee stops. The narrative was very good. Loved it all!

We so appreciated Friendliness of Lee the driver and he was so informative. He went out of his way to make sure that everyone…..and half the 16 were from USA so he adjusted his conversation… had the best experience possible He stopped appropriately for photo opportunities and shared his historical knowledge .

What a wonderful way to experience the charm and beauty of North Yorkshire and the moors. In addition to being an all around great and fascinating guy, our guide and driver, Matt, managed to find a perfect balance of humor, historical information and time to quietly take in the splendor. We saw so much on this tour and would highly recommend it for anyone who wants to take in the highlights in one day. A really great value considering everything you get to see! Thank you!
