Worst excursion in the history of excursions. The Mayan ruins were ok, but the above picture is not what you see, a few rocks, wooden structures and that's it. Across the street to get three small tacos and NO FREE WATER REFILLS. Followed by roughly 1.5 hours of trying to sell you chocolate and tequila. Finally had to walk a mile.... that's right a MILE to the beach to snorkel... wait for it... one hour to swim then home. Granted, due to a triathlon, we had to walk, but only an hour snorkeling, not to mention everyone and their mother has a handout for a tip. Worst of all, a photographer was all over us taking pictures in the ocean. We agreed to buy out pics for $40, but he downloaded someone else... NOT EVEN US?????? Save your money, drop in the ocean, get stung by a jelly fish, certainly less painful..... DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!!

Walter was our guide and he was so good. He was kind, knowledgeable and made all parts of this trip a delight. At San Gervasio he connected us with a guide, Raul, who was so interesting and educational. If you love history, Raul is your man. I really loved the whole tour and the gentlemen who guided us

First there was some confusion on the meeting spot. We were contacted beforehand about what hotel we were staying at but after received no responses through the app about where we could meet or get picked up even after I reached out a few times. On the day of we could not contact the tour operator and no one was at the said meeting spot in the app instructions. We finally got through after calling customer service a couple of times. The “dune buggy” was a gutted VW Jetta and it was fun but not what we were expecting. Our tour guide was super cool and funny! The ATV and cenote was amazing and lots of fun! We were taken to a tequila tasting afterwards that wasn’t advertised as part of the excursion and felt very salesy and asked to buy bottles. We did not snorkel at all and it wasn’t even mentioned so that was very disappointing. I don’t think I would buy this excursion again knowing what I know now. We got a better excursion package through our hotel we stayed at for the same amount of money and no hidden fees.

No one showed up, we were scheduled for 8:30 was told to arrive 30 minutes prior and we did just that. No one was here and Niobe but another couple was here at 0830 but no one from the crew was here.

Our guide was great and we really enjoyed the tequila tasting. But we were disappointed that we were not actually riding dune buggies as they were actually ATV’s. The beach experience was sub par and extremely crowded.

The bats and jumping into the center to swim with the fish. Sad to see how we keep killing off the sea life at the snorkeling spots.

This was a fun excursion but expect for it to take all day and for you to spend more money that what you initially thought! We were told to meet at the MEGA grocery store and they would pick us up to take us to the excursion location, but that did NOT happen. We ended up talking to a local who called the event location for us. They told us that they had tried getting in contact with us to let us know the meetup location had changed, which we have no record of emails or phone calls. So then we took another taxi to the event location (at this point we were already late and others were waiting on us). Once we got there they did not want to pay for our taxi, even though cost of getting there was included in the initial price. It took a lot of arguing (in Spanish) for them to finally pay for our taxi. THEN we were charged an extra $20 a person because they said that there were additional entrance fees that we needed to pay for. I was pretty upset about this because this was not disclosed when we initially paid for the excursion (and we paid over $500 initially). So then we go on this excursion and we had to drive to an atv location. The atving was fun; they took professional photos of us driving. We paid for the professional photos to be sent to our email addresses and never received them. So that was frustrating. After the Atv, we had to drive to a tequila tasting, which we didn’t know was part of the excursion. It wasn’t a huge deal, but we had a child with us that couldn’t participate in the tasting (for obvious reasons). Once we finished there, we drove to the Mayan ruins which was beautiful, BUT you only had 40 minutes to walk around and view everything, and it was a self guided tour. It wasn’t enough time for us to view everything that was there. After the Mayan tour we drove to a cave where you literally were scraping the bottom on the car on the road to get there. It was a long drive and I would say a bit dangerous. We also did not have 4x4 cars, which made the drive a little bit more difficult. The cave was pretty but it was definitely water you could not swim in. After the cave, we drove for 40 minutes back to the main meetup location where we had fajitas for lunch. They were good but the portion sizes were small, alcohol was not included and the service wasn’t the best. Finally, we went snorkeling but we only had an hour to do that. Overall, the entire excursion took 7 hours, we ended up paying more than what we should have, and the online list of things that are included is totally incorrect (especially pickup shuttles and the $20 per person ticket costs). I feel like we were scammed out of money and wouldn’t do this again.

They made stops that were not on the agenda. Then the ruins took so long that we did not get to snorkel or have lunch! Did not get what we paid for and everyone was pretty miserable.

I came to the meeting point but the people told me it was canceled because of the storm and when I went I back to my cruise ship I asked for a refund and they gave me a 30% penalty for not coming even though we came but the people who were supposed to pick us up never came. And they scammed my money by saying that we didn’t show up. We even called TripAdvisor about it and they won’t give us a refund.

Our host Mario was really nice and the vehicles were rustic and fun shells of vw Jettas with metal doors. The tour was more of a lead than tour. Mario took us to the ruins, then we had to pay more to get a tour guide. Went to el cedral and got different sales pitches for stuff. Last we went snorkeling, which again you could lead yourself, or pay for a snorkel guide. Mario was nice and would likely be a good actual tour guideas he seemed to know the island well, but he was really just the leader that we followed around the island. At each so we were kind of on our own. We had fun, and it was great to see these places, but I'd find an actual tour next time that helped me understand what was happening at each of these places.
