After meeting your guide in central Hobart, begin your journey through more than 200 alcohol-fueled years of enterprise, hardship, and amusing anecdotes at some of Hobart's old waterfront taverns.
Enjoy a drink (own expense, no obligation) with your fellow tour-goers as you learn about the citys underbelly. Your guide takes you back in time through tales of Hobart's pubs, brothels, smugglers, convicts, and other rip-roaring characters who played a part in the murky yet fascinating history of Hobart. Your tour ends in the Salamanca area, where you may continue exploring on your own (or just have another drink!).

Really loved this tour a lot!! Gained a lot of knowledge of the history of Hobart and went to some really interesting pubs. It was a perfect combination of history and socializing/fun! Would highly recommend.

What a great way to start a holiday in Hobart, grounding yourself in the history around you. Informative and fun, the cold crazy weather only made it more memorable and helped you get a feel of what it would have been like in the early 1800s, living in tents and all the other hardships faced during settlement.. Maggie was lovely, full of energy and extremely knowledgable about Hobarts architecture and its progression into the city it is today.

Guide very knowledgeable. Would swap the order of the tour to finish at the best pub Hope and Anchor Tavern. Was a great place for a drink and dinner.

Disappointing, guide obviously knew a lot about the area. Was expecting to actually go into the pubs and hear the history over a beer but instead mostly stood outside in the noisy busy street, hogging the paths and people having to navigate around us.

John was a very good tour guide, he knew a lot about not just the pub history but also about Tasmania's history. It was a great evening.
