Start your afternoon wine-tasting tour with the village of Gigondas. Located at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail hill range, the vineyard covers an area of 12 km : the wines produced belong to the Crus of the southern Ctes du Rhne. The Grenache noir expresses its full flavour in glimmering red wines with pronounced tannins, a robust body, and a solid propensity for ageing .
Continuation to the following destination, the famous vineyard of Chteauneuf-du-Pape. The ruins of the Pope's formal summer residence dominate the typical medieval village.
The 13 varieties of grapes combined with the various soils create a large palette of complex red wines and elegant white wines. Enjoy a wine-tasting in one of the numerous cellars of the village before going back to Avignon.

Enthusiastic guide made trip a great experience. The wine tasting was a pleasurable experience. The Roman ruins have to be seen to be believed.
Our guide Melanie was knowledgeable and pleasant and, although the Triumphal Arch and Roman Theatre at Orange were interesting, we would have liked more time tasting more wines. However, we did enjoy the winery presentation and tasting, which was entertaining and informative.
Guide was very knowledgeable. We had a relaxing afternoon with nice drive through the vineyards.
We only had 3 guest in the group which was great! Orange was a welcome surprise. The audio guide took you to different spots where you learned about the history of the theatre. Instead of hearing about it in one long spiel, the narrator broke it up into sections which helped hold your attention while you moved about the arena. Lots of stairs and uneven surfaces, so not for everyone but I loved it. Chateauneuf-du-Pape was a different story. We were taken to the winery Ogier which is in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape region. The lady giving the tour was quite rude throughout the presentation. There were 2 groups visiting and everyone was put-off by her attitude. No one bought any wine, probably due to her attitude. This was a disappointment as we had every intention of purchasing wine from this region to bring home. But there was no way I would buy from this lady.
A very effective way to visit area outside train network
Pleasant half day tour, winery visit particularly enlightening
This was a very good trip. We enjoyed the visit to chateau neuf particularly. Our guide was knowledgeable and able to give lots of information about the area. There were plenty of photo opportunities.
We like it , the driver is pleasant and knowledgeble
The tour was completely as advertised. We had the right amount of time in Orange and the wine tour was great for a first-time wine tasting. It was a relaxing afternoon but we also saw a great deal. Our guide was very knowledgeable both about the items on the tour and more generally in answering our questions about the Avignon area. She used perfect English and also was very patient in letting us practice our French.
My husband and I really enjoyed trip to the Theatre of Orange and the wine tasting at Chateauneuf du Pape. The wine tasting was very professionally conducted and I felt like I learnt a lot more about wines. However, these are places that are easily accessible by car, so if you are in the mood for driving, there may be no need to sign up for this tour.
