very interesting wines , especially amber wines. The taste was very different and unique 🍷 the atmosphere and surroundings is super😊 very nice viewes 🍷
It was one of the best experience of the trip. The staff/owners were delightful!! The food was excellent and pairings were perfect. I would love to back!!
It is a preatty basic experience. Not saying that is a bad one, but its just nothing extraordinary. The food and the wine was good, with out being exceptional. The place is a nice, warm farm just five minutes from San Gimigiano. The wine explanation is basic and they give you your own space to enjoy the food and the wine in a very nice suitable place. In my opionion, if you want to have a light experience with wine, is a good place to be, if you are looking for something more knowledge deep, this is not the plan to do. Value-benefit its a bit expensive, we pay 96 euros for two people, and with taht money there you can get much better food and wine in a sit in restaurant.
Due to stormy weather we were late (although we messaged then). Although the food was great and we had a server just for us, it was so noisy we couldn't hear anything he said about the wine or the pairings. Everone was nice and friendly, we just couldn't hear anything. We did end up with a case of an amazinf Chianti, thpugh,
We had wineyard tour with dinner in this beautiful place and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Actual tour was pretty quick but our guide was really friendly and personal. We also had time to look around and take pictures before getting into tasting. Food and wine were both excellent. Still the best thing was relaxed athmosphere. San Gimignano can be quite crowded so we loved to have a little break from that in this hidden paradise.
I have to preface this review by saying that the rating is influenced by the fact that on the day of our visit to Marronaia, we had car trouble and as a result we were about an hour late arriving. I don’t know if this affected our experience but I can’t be sure, hence the 3-star rating versus a lower one. My wife and I visited with our daughter and son-in-law and 2 grandsons aged 3 and 6. Our daughter and family arrived before my wife and I so Marronaia was aware we would be late. On arrival, we were greeted warmly and shown to our table for the lunch. I don’t recall the name of the young lady who was our guide/server. The meal was quite good and we were regularly asked if everything was okay and if we needed anything. After the pasta course, the children were still hungry and so when we were asked if we needed anything, we asked if the children could have more pasta. The server returned with a menu saying we could order more if we wanted but we would have to pay for it. The tour with lunch was rather expensive: 45 Euros per person. They reduced the fee for the children to 40 Euros because they wouldn’t be drinking so we paid 40 Euros for the children to have lunch which I find to be overly expensive for what they got, especially since we would have had to pay extra if they wanted more. We were never offered coffee at the end of the meal. The 5 Euro difference for the wine tasting reflected how little wine we actually tasted with our meal. The explanation of each wine was very scripted without much information about the history of each. Our wine “tour” consisted of a short walk into the garden next to the restaurant and a maybe 5 minute explanation of the vineyard. We chose this vineyard for our tour because it was rated number 1 or 2 on TripAdvisor. Also, the website indicated that you could park at the vineyard and from there walk to San Gimignano. My son-in-law had never been to San Gimignano and the rest of us were anxious to visit again but it is quite a walk from Marronaia to the town and so my wife and I decided to return to where we were staying and the others drove up to the town for a visit. Regardless of whatever effect our late arrival had on our visit, I would not recommend Marronaia as a vineyard to visit as there are others around San Gimignano that we have enjoyed more and which are less expensive, more interesting and better value.
55€ pour una comida sin vino. Muy caro para lo que es. Explicaciones muy escasas (discurso de memoria) No lo recomiendo, muy desagradable
Fantastische locatie, heerlijke wijn, magistraal eten!
Nothing good to say except the beautiful views and grounds. The staff has not (and I suspect cares not for) guest service training.
What a wonderful food experience and our host was very knowledgeable! The wine was also fantastic. Thank you for the great experience.
