Ijen volcano is a challenging but rewarding hike with amazing views, blue fire, and sunrise. The travel time is 8 hours, and the climb takes about 4-5 hours including the way back. The hike is steep and strenuous, but the scenery is stunning. The trail winds through lush rainforests and past sulfurous lake. We didn't see the blue fire ourselves because of the too much dangerous smoke, but our guide filmed it for us on our phone. It was still a magical experience to be in the crater of the volcano in the darkness. The sunrise from the top of the volcano was also breathtaking. The sky was filled with vibrant colors, and the volcano cast a shadow over the landscape. It was a truly unforgettable experience. If you are looking for a challenging but rewarding hike, Ijen volcano is definitely worth considering. Just be sure to be prepared for the long journey and the steep climb, and to wear a gas mask to protect yourself from the sulfuric gases.

We couldn’t see the blue fire because of the government regulations but still worth it to go! It was really nice experience and the view was spectacular. Thank you Gusti and Supri to made our tour comfortable.

This trip was amazing thanks to our tour guide Gusti who made sure our safety and comfort throughout. Unfortunately we were not able to see the blue fire due to the current regulation on the time when we can start hiking, which is 4am, a bit too late to start. Apparently you have to start earlier to get to the volcano area when it's still dark to see the blue fire. However, it was full-moon night and we really had a view which was breathtakingly beautiful on top of the mountain, and also around the lake where we can see sulfur. The local guide Supri was very kind and always tried his best to take nice photos at the right spots! It's definitely worth it for the beautiful view, and I would love to go back again after the government allow us to hike earlier timing. Thank you for the amazing service, my friend and I had such an awesome trip thanks to you Gusti and Supri🙏 PS. the homestay is very simple, maybe it's better to bring your own amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, and hairdryer if you need!

What an experience! It really is something to see when you are in this part of Indonesia, and made so comfortable with our guide. The volcanoes are breathtaking and with the blue fire being something I won't soon forget. It was a treat to explore the local cuisines along the way and learn about the culture of the areas we passed through. It's certainly an adventure well worth embarking on, especially with the organization by Rio Bali tours.

Used Rio Bali tours to do out trip to Mt Ijen. What an experience it was. 36hrs from Kuta to Akita via East Java. Ferry crossing was interesting as was the food we had in the way. Everything was planned to perfection and if you are up for a wee bit of adventure this is your trip and Rio Bali tours is your company. Well worth the experience 😀😀😀😀

Amazing experience hiking down volcano to see blue fire Lava. Trio there was also awesome from Bali and guides and drivers were just brilliant and very informative

Had an absolutely amazing time on this tour and recommend if you want to see some more off-the beaten track sights around Bali/Java. We visited some sights in North Bali on the first day which were absolutely breathtaking and our tour guide Dewa was very helpful throughout our journey. Our local guide Supry was very friendly and got us some amazing pictures of Ijen Crater as well as joining us in a laugh along the way - we had so much fun and this tour will be one of our travelling highlights for sure

We went for the Mount Ijen sunrise trek, and it was incredible. Initially we were drawn to the blue lava photos we saw online. We later realised that the blue lava is only visible at certain times before 4am, and only if the smoke plumes are not too dense. Instead we did the sunrise tour (which starts at 4am) and it was amazing! Our driver, Dewa took us to various sites on the way from Ubud to Java. He was most helpful and very friendly. He introduced us to Warung Makan Neriki near Twin lake where we ate the best vegetarian curry we've hadwe've had so far. We stayed at Hady's homestay which was clean and welcoming. It was a good place to get the few hours rest we needed before setting off. Our guide up the mountain, Supri, was so friendly and took lots of amazing photos and videos for us. We were very happy to have done the Mount Ijen trek this way with many beautiful views and company.

Tour was excellent, well organised & the views were breath taking. Whilst we couldn’t see the blue lava (as no guarantee as it depends on fume levels on the day) the sunrise view was spectacular (the blue lake, rock formations and yellow fumes). Dewa (driver and guide) was incredible, punctual, informative, and good company throughout. Supry (the sherper) was brilliant too. Hady’s home stay was clean, welcoming and ideal for the few hours rest we needed. We were well feed and hydrated through the 2 days as well.
