Know More about this tour

Discover the highlights of historic Cairo, ancient and medieval, on this 2-day private tour from your hotel in Cairo or Giza.
On day 1, you'll visit UNESCO-listed Giza, to see the pyramids and the Sphinx. Enjoy a camel ride adventure around the pyramids, Saqqara, to explore tombs and ancient pyramids of Zoser (Step Pyramid). Explore the mysterious Pyramid Texts and the lively scenes inside the tombs, and Memphis, the first capital of ancient Egypt.

On day 2, you'll explore Cairo, visiting the Egyptian Antiquities Museum, the Citadel of Saladin, the Alabaster Mosque, the Hanging Church, the Ben Ezra Synagogue, and the Khan al-Khalili bazaar. Tour includes lunch and entrance fees but excludes accommodation.

Day 1: Around Cairo (L)
Your Egyptologist guide will meet you at your Cairo or Giza hotel at 8am in an air-conditioned vehicle, then drive you to the UNESCO-listed Giza Pyramids. Admire the three vast pyramids of the kings and the several smaller pyramids that were tombs of the queens: if you'd like to climb inside the Great Pyramid or see King Khufu's solar boat, your guide can arrange this for an additional charge. Stroll out into the sands and scramble aboard a camel for a 25-minute ride on the famous 'ship of the desert', before discovering the Valley Temple and the iconic Sphinx. You'll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant with a view of the pyramids. Next, you'll drive to Saqqara, to see the Pyramid of Djoser, probably Egypt's oldest pyramid, enter the pyramid of Teti to see the pyramid texts, and admire the stunning reliefs in the tombs of the nobles. You'll finish the day with a look at the remains of Egypt's ancient capital Memphis, returning to your hotel around 4 or 5pm.

Day 2: Cairo (L)
After an 8am pickup, your day begins with a private tour of the Egyptian Antiquities Museum, home to one of the world's largest collections of ancient Egyptian artefacts. Marvel at the treasures of King Tutankhamen, including his golden death mask, rich jewelry, and even his sandals! You can choose to view the mummies of long-lost pharaohs, including Ramses II, for an extra charge. After lunch in a local restaurant, it's time for a whirlwind tour of UNESCO-listed Old Cairo. You'll visit the Citadel of Saladin, the Alabaster Mosque, the Coptic Christian Hanging Church, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue, before haggling for souvenirs at the famous Khan al-Khalili bazaar. You'll return to your hotel around 4 or 5pm.

We had a great time on our two day Cairo tour. Day 1 was the pyramids/desert activities and day 2 was inside Cairo (mosques, museums, and bazaar). Our tour guide was Amina - she was knowledgeable and very kind. Our group was four adults - definitely recommend!

I’m very pleased with our tour. Rasha was always very nice and with good actitud. We decided not go to a some stores and we added a boat tour. They were very flexible and there was no problem doing those changes. We are very picky with the food and both lunch we really enjoy it. They were always on time. The shuttle was very clean and we were able to leave a backpack and jackets there.

We were treated as special guests from first contact. Ibrahim was polite, respectful, fun and so very knowledgeable about Egypt and it's history. He listened to what was important to us, found us great examples of local food and made us feel welcome in his country. And he is an excellent photographer! Highly recommend this personal tour.

We were a family of 7 with grandparents and teenagers. We only had 2 days in Cairo but managed to see and learn and experience so much thanks to our superb guide Zaneb! She was so organised, knowledgeable, and friendly, and catered to all our family needs! Thank you Zaneb! And thank you to our driver who navigated the crazy Cairo traffic so well too!

We had Zenab as our guide, and we couldn't have asked for anyone better, in fact we asked to have her the second day as well. The tour was personalized as we were offered to make additional stops. We were catered to in the sense that we asked to go off route and stop at the Cairo Harley Davidson store to pick up a souvenir for a family member. Both Zenab and our driver had no problem with it and added it to our day. Due to a late flight on our second day Zenab offered to add to our tour a dinner with view of the Sphynx evening light show and then transfer us to the airport for an additional cost; it was very well worth it. We appreciated this as we could take our luggage with us in the morning and have it all day rather than leave it at the hotel and have to go back. Zenab took fabulous pictures for us and was always offering anything we needed. I highly recommend this tour and make sure to ask for Zenab as your guide.

Our tour guide, Manar Atwa, guided our group of 12 American Tourist on the 2-Day Ancient Egypt and old Cairo highlight tour. Her English was impeccable and she made history come alive in her presentations. I really enjoyed listening to her and she took the time to explain the dynamics in why historical events occurred. You can tell she really enjoys teaching and presenting historical events in a really enjoyable manner. She has a great personality and people skills to be a guide. When booking the tour, I had reservations that the tour would be enjoyable. I was concerned that the tour guide would be robotic in exposing things and not be engaged in a positive manner. Manar did an incredible job in providing interesting information to hold us capitative in listening to her. She anticipated our comfort needs and made sure everyone had an enjoyable time. Without any reservations, I highly recommend having Manar as your tour guide. I believe the company a is a top notice tour company for the driver was very professional and the tour bus was clean and very comfortable. I don’t really see any downsides to using this organization. If you do book with Viator for the 2-day sightseeing tour in Cairo, do yourself a favor and ask to have Manar Atwa as your tour guide. You will not be disappointed.

WARNING!! do not attempt to tour Egypt, especially Cairo without a guide. I cannot praise our guide, Bassan, enough. All tour guides are university educated and licenced, and are a vital and valued part of the Egyptian tourist industry. Bassan was enthusiastic, friendly , and a mine of information. Be ready to confront a city of 25 million people....and nearly as many cars. A holiday of a lifetime, Thanks Viator!

Manar was great tour guide and was very knowledgeable about Egyptian history and hierglyphics. She was efficient in getting us in and out of sites with lines. She helped us bargain and tip appropriately. I would highly recommend her to anyone. This 2 day tour hits all of the main sites. I was even able to add a couple of sites that I was interested in seeing along the way. She was flexible since we moved well through the sites.
