Very good experience! Highly recommend the horses unless you are a frequent hiker in great shape. The guys at the bottom for horses tried to double charge us so we had to walk down which kinda sucked (nothing to do with this tour). Guide who walked with us up the volcano was the BEST! I wore the worst running shoes with no grip and almost plunged to my death a few times LOL. He held my hand the ENTIRE TIME! We walked back slowly and talked the whole entire time, he didn’t even mind that the group was way ahead. Thank you so much to the guide!!! As for the hotsprings, they were very relaxing. Unfortunately I think they forgot about us at the hotsprings and we were there for like 4hrs and it was pretty late by the time we got back, like 7pm. For everyone saying it’s not actual lava, no it’s not because it erupted so long ago. But it’s still crazy to roast marshmallows from a volcano!

Volcano and hot springs good, but tour operator wasted an extra 3 1/2 hours in heavy traffic detouring to Antigua to pick up and drop off passengers in crowded van when the ad for the tour was to be only direct. This was obnoxious and unacceptable.

The hike is s very important part of this trip. That cannot be understated. But it's worth it. 10/10 would recommend. Definitely recommend bringing a speaker. Food was good. The spa at the end was necessary.

This was a great way to relieve our designated driver for a day and so glad we opted for this tour. A lovely little hike to see Pacaya Volcano close-up, we were the first party to ascend that day and glimpsed some lava. The views from the top were well worth it and taking El Arenal route on the descent was an adventure. After the hike, the Kawilal Spa was just the ticket! We even had the whole area to ourselves due to the pandemic, so all felt very safe. The smoothie and lunch there were also very delicious. Could have done with a tad more direction at times, but all part of the fun!

I want tours to include real pictures instead of fantasy. The hot part of this volcano is a small depression that feels a little warm, littered with candy wrappers and sticks. If you pick up in Guat City it is a long drive, as you detour slowly through Antigua to pick up more people.

Great experience for anyone who loves nature. Very unique tour with hot springs and visible lava coming down the volcano

I do not wish to jeopardize anyone's job so I cannot specify why I did not rate tour five stars. I did this exact tour July 2018. Have worked in travel industry 50 years. I positively would recommend this tour to all able bodied and conditioned people under 60. Hot springs with lunch part was delightful and well worth what we paid.

Tour was nice. I left from Guatemala City solo at 6:30 and met some great people on the tour. We hiked and actually got to be on an active volcano and roast marshmallows it was amazing! The hike is a bit steep but nothing too crazy; I'd recommend good walking sneakers. They had horses walk with us incase we got tired. Afterwards we got lunch; included were options like pizza, chicken, plaintain, salad etc at the hot spring resort. We also got free smoothies. The hot springs were so relaxing, I wish we had more time there would be my only recommendation. This is a good deal for the price because if you want to the hot spring on your own you'd be paying a lot more. Overall great tour.

Firstly, my wife and I exercise 6 days a week and this hike was not easy. It’s pretty much over an hour of walking up a very steep hill so when everyone calls it a “tough little hike”. It’s exactly that tough and short. The horses are 100 Q if you wanna ride one up there. 4 of 8 in our group did that. Very cloudy, windy and cold so dressed ready for that. Then in the way down it was to hit for a jacket. Just an FYI. Lunch was ok and at the hot springs hotel. The springs were nice but we had less than an hour to enjoy it. It was enough to go through a session where they take you through a cycle of hot/cold baths. Not designed for long time relaxation. It’s like a spa to the locals so don’t dress to bad for the hike bc you go straight here. It’s a good tour to pay for. My wife speaks Spanish so some tours aren’t worth paying for but this one is worth it. FYI they pick up in Guatemala City first than Antigua. So if your leaving from GC you’re in the car and hour longer in the am and on the return the unload I’m Antigua the. Take you to Guatemala City. With the traffic at night you’re talking about 2.5 hours in the car. And it’s super late at night then too.
