Overview

For those that want to see wildlife in Guanacaste, the Palo Verde National Park boat tour is one of the best.

The best way to experience the national park is by taking a guided boat tour down the river to go wildlife watching. The boat tour is about 1.5 hours long, going down the Tempisque River in a 20-25 seat motor boat.
Its also a great tour for families and senior citizens who may have trouble walking long distances but want to see wildlife and nature as there is no strenuous activity involved.
The most common animals you will see on the Palo Verde National Park boat tour are iguanas, crocodiles, white face monkey, howler monkey, herons and more

An exciting morning! We had an amazing guide (Rainer) who was nice and knowledgeable! A great boat ride on the river seeing crocodiles, monkeys, iguanas and scarlet macaws! The late breakfast was delicious too!

Loved seeing all the monkeys in the wild. The crocodiles were out as well. So glad we got to see so much. The brunch afterwards was amazing. Our guide Rainer was so knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely recommend!

The reviews stand for themselves, and our experience was no different from these other 5 star reviews. , Rainier and Manuel was our captain- if you have kids, you might want to ask for this amazing duo. Genuinely, hands down one of the best boat tours I've been on. What separates Palo Verde Boat Tours and makes me write this is the food. Oh my- the food was incredible. The homemade tortillas and organic traditional Costa Rican fare was delicious. I really don't have enough superlatives for this tour- check it out and go during low tide!

don't even know where to begin...our time with Rainier was the absolute highlight of our trip, and the thing I would recommend above anything else to those visiting Costa Rica. We were scheduled to take a park tour with Rainer our third day in Guanacaste area and were surprised to learn that we would be getting a private tour . The tour blew our expectations away -- we saw absolutely incredible amounts of wildlife, Rainer took National Geographic-quality pictures for us, and had answers to our questions, and great stories along the way

Saw capuchins, a crocodile, howler monkeys....but a very quick trip —-15 minutes—because the boat captain got a call from the guy at the river that others wanted to go on the tour. The same guy upped the charge from $20 to $25 when we checked in. All in all this was our most missable Costa Rican adventures...such an amazing country! recommend Rincón or avenal instead!!

This is a great way to see the wildlife (birds, croc's iguana's, lizards, monkeys, bats) and learn a lot about the area, the fauna, the history (natural, social and political), from very excellent and informed guides! The river tour is about two hours, then a wonderful lunch of typical foods at a local farm. I was initially concerned about the hour plus ride from where we were staying, but that was a wonderful way to learn much about the Costa Rican history, family life social structure, fauna, and even some politics. Highly recommended tour - don't miss the opportunity to take any one of Pinino's Adventures packages. Great people. Thank you Carlos for helping us get it booked and Eduardo for a great tour!

Enjoyed this tour a lot. We got to see a large crocodile swimming right next to the boat, and a lot of birds, iguanas and howler monkeys. The guides were very nice and very well informed.
