Know More about this tour

Chinese fishing nets (Cheena vala) are a type of stationary lift net in India. They are fishing nets that are fixed land installations for fishing. While commonly known as "Chinese fishing nets" in India, the more formal name for such nets is "shore operated lift nets". Huge mechanical contrivances hold out horizontal nets of 20 m or more across. Each structure is at least 10 m high and comprises a cantilever with an outstretched net suspended over the sea and large stones suspended from ropes as counterweights at the other end. Each installation is operated by a team of up to six fishermen. While such nets are used throughout coastal southern China and Indochina, in India they are mostly found in the Indian cities of Kochi and Kollam, where they have become a tourist attraction. This way of fishing is unusual in India and almost unique to the area, as it was introduced by Chinese explorers who landed there in the 14th century. Indeed, one interpretation of the city name Kochi is co-chin', meaning like China

Shameer remembered me on the 2nd day even though I didn’t engage his services on the 1st day. Due to I need to get to a place in a hurry, I took his tuktuk service. He’s a nice gentlemen, friendly and knowledgeable on the ins-and-outs of Fort Kochi. There were several things I need to do and Shameer went to the right places without a hitch. Due to his excellent service, I engaged his services a few more times 😂… He also brought to arts-n-crafts shops where I have no inclination of buying anything but the items captured my attention. And I am happy with my purchases. 😍 And the cost of the rides was reasonable. I felt comfortable and safe. Well done, Shameer. 😊👏👏👏

A great afternoon visiting parts of ‘Fort Kochi’ that I never knew existed. I found the ‘laundry house’ a fascinating insight to peoples working lives. This was followed by a stop to the spice warehouses and candle makers.

We had great little run around main sites courtesy of friendly attentive and courteous Samad Mosteasy entry owing to few visitor numbers. Programme flexed well to suit our requirements Enjoyed the visits to old Dutch era laundry the Maritime museum and the Palace in particular Recommend this if time limited

To timer ca kostede 500 rp. Varm anbefaling her fra.
