Know More about this tour

Meet your guide at the caseficio in Parma, and start your tour to learn about parmigiano-reggiano, aka the king of cheese.

The famous hard cheese is guaranteed in its origin, so only Modena, Reggio Emilia, Parma, and some parts of Mantova and Bologna are able to produce it.

See the producers at work as they heat the milk to separate the whey. Watch as the cheese is salted and shaped into a wheel before its placed in the aging room.

As you admire the rows of wheels, hear how the cheese is hammered, fire-branded, and subject to stringent tests before it is finally allowed to be sold as parmigiano-reggiano.

Finally, finish your tour and sit down for acheese tasting with honey and local wine.

It was amazing! So fascinating to watch them make the cheese and learn the process. Our tour guide did a great job! I would totally recommend this tour!

We loved this tour and it was a highlight of our trip. Make sure you confirm the pickup time, because it was 30 minutes before we thought it was, but fortunately figured it out early! The tour was small and incredibly interesting. I highly recommend Parma Look!!

The tour was was realy interesting because the whole factory is family and seems to do everything there with dedication and love. worth the money!

Matteo was wonderful. Most informative and very pleasant.
The only hiccup to the event was for Viator to inform us up from that our pickup was for 1/2 hr before the tour. Had they stated that in the information up front or the confirmation, this would be a 5 star event. It is a simple fix for Viator!

Had a fun time visiting a farm where Parmigiano cheese was produced. Very labor intensive and a process that must be constantly monitored. Learned a great deal and the cheese tasting at the end was fantastic. Our guide was the cheese master's son and he spoke very good English and knew the entire process in great detail.

We we're lucky enough to have Mattia give us essentially a private tour of the whole process. Extremely knowledgeable, he provided us with all the information you could hope for as to the production of this beautiful cheese. Loved that there was no pressure to buy anything, but how can you not when it's so delicious!!
Recommend highly to anyone with even a vague interest in what you're eating- thanks Mattia

We loved learning how you make the finest parmesan cheese in the world. The commitment of the cheese makers was evident. The process is amazing and you now know why really good parmesan cheese has a higher cost. Worth every penny. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and patient with our questions.

I have already written one review. I will write it again.
The parmagiano regianno cheese factory tour was poor.
The guide had little knowledge and If I didnt have my sound practical knowledge of hard cheese making I would have learned little or nothing from the tour. The guide was unable to answer basic technical questions eg fat content of combined skim and whole milk, I found myself translating the guides explanations into lay terms for other tour members.
The cheese samples offered for tasting were miniscule in quantity and poor in quality. Certainly not an encouragement to purchase.
Overall a poor and over priced experience.

We loved it! Pietro, our guide, was so nice and informative. He picked us up at the train station in Parma as we came in from a different city. Wonderful experience watching the cheese made and he gave us excellent information and answered our questions. Dropped us in town at a great lunch he recommended!

Extremely enjoyable experience, family business gave us a very personal insight into this authentic method of making parm. The taste speaks for itself.
